  • Dimitra Papatheodorou

Nicolas Malevitsis and Dimitra Papatheodorou  invite you to participate in a Mail Art project entitled “Stars move leaving dust and sound behind them”

What kind of memories left you the moments and situations you've experienced? Give them a form, a colour, a sound...You may paint, make a collage, use photos, songs, music, digital elaboration, poetry and many more.

The mail art will be available readily in two central bookstores in Patras and Athens, and maybe in other cities of Greece too. The works of art that will be exhibited will change once or twice a week, as new pieces of art will be received. The interaction with the public that will visit the bookstores will help make mail art more known in Greece. Workshops, presentations and other events may be organized. A venue is currently being sought where the works can be exhibited after they have finished their travel in Patras and Athens. Details of this will be made available later.

Size, media, number of submissions: Free

No fees, no jury, no returns.

    Deadline: February 1st 2018

Please include the title of the work, your name, address, email address, etc. Documentation: All entries will be displayed online so if you don’t want your contact details (postal and email address) to be published please let me know.

Hi to you, oh weird crowd of deviants and freaks,

as in your guts burns this insatiable desire to create,

I give you an opportunity to share the fantasies that

your tortured souls struggled to produce. Next year

in a small country called Taiwan, I will organize an exhibition

of art ( painting, photos, collages, mail art, etc...) and I want

here to humbly ask you to participate by sending me the fruit of

your sweat. The topic is " a perfect world" any format is accepted

but, being not the owner of a truck, I beg you, not too big.

As soon as I will start to recieve some masterpieces, I will

scan them or take photos and post them on a Facebook page

( yet to create) with your name, any message you want to appear

and if you want, your address so people can contact you.

    artistically yours,

    Cyril

    Hi

my name is Theresa and I study Editorial Design at Kunsthochschule Burg Giebichenstein. Currently I work on a Projekt called PLACES EN RELATION. I have been thinking about this subject for a while as I have been living in a lot of different places within the last years. Sometimes I moved because of work or studies, or because I was curious about a certain city and sometimes because I was discontent with the apartment situation. I wondered how other people in other places think about that topic: If they wander around as much as I do or if they have settled in one place for a certain reason and if so: how did they decide for that one place and what ties them there?

For that reason I want to start a mail art project and I would be happy if a lot of people from different places would get involved! Send me a postcard of the town you are living in and on the backside write down your thoughts on: why you decided to live there? / What ties you there? / Does it feel like home? / Can you imagine living there forever? Please send your postcard to the following address before 15/12/2017: Theresa Peter / Ludwig-Wucherer-Str. 1 / 06108 Halle / Germany

All postcards will be shown in a publication/exhibition at the end of the semester. If you want to receive further information on that, let me know by writing your address on the postcard. I am looking forward to receive a lot of cards and of course I would be happy if you spread this message to your friends, so that even more people can participate in the project!

Thank you so much for participating!

    Theresa

    About Canton Museum of Art

With a collection of over 1,200 pieces of fine art, including both works on paper and ceramics, the Canton Museum of Art would have no trouble filling its 10,000 square-feet of gallery space on its own. Founded as the Little Civic Art Gallery during the days of the Depression and the WPA, the museum has evolved into an impressive collection of American artworks from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. However, the curators aren't interested in keeping things static. They dedicate portions of their museum to national touring exhibits, local artists, and community events. The museum also hosts the School of Art which features more than 20 studio art classes for students of all ages, scheduling sessions three times a year.

    Mail-Art Opportunity - Hotel Drawings

Are you an artist, curator or creative practitioner who travels—either for your work, or for pleasure? Or do you make work about travel, transience, stationary or the ephemeral?

Inspired loosely by the nomadic German artist Martin Kippenberger’s ‘Hotel Drawings’, 20-21 Visual arts Centre in Scunthorpe UK is seeking artwork on (real or imaginary/imagined) mono-graphed hotel note paper, or small works on paper, that use Kippenberger's drawings and the artist's transient lifestyle as inspiration or point of departure.

The work can be as detailed or ephemeral as you choose; notes, doodles, sketches - they can relate to a place you have stayed, your reason for being there, your practice, or quite frankly whatever you choose.
We anticipate works being unframed and on paper, sized A4 or smaller. A maximum of three works can be submitted per artist.

We aim to include everything that is submitted, however anything deemed offensive, unsuitable for our visitors, or straying too far from the brief may not be included.

This is a mail-art style project and there is no fee available for appearing in this exhibition - however we will aim to return all artworks to the artists after the close of the exhibition if a return address is provided.

Exhibition dates: 13 January to 24 March 2018. Full documentation will be posted online.

    Deadline 9 January 2018.

All work should be mailed to Dominic Mason, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, Church Square, Scunthorpe, United Kingdom DN15 6TB to arrive before 9 January 2018—and include any relevant information (artist name, return address, title etc).

    To all collage addicted artists!

I would like to work with you together on this new project. I have over 400 bookmarks with the heads of poets, narrators and writers on it.

I would like to send each interested artists 3 different pieces:

1st one : starter by me for you to finish

2nd one: solo collage from you

3rd one: starter collage from you for me to finish

All three finished pieces of artwork are then supposed to be posted into this facebook group and I would also like you to send them back to me. I will send one of our collaborations back to you after I documented each collage.

If I manage to find a sponsor, I further want to document our collaboration by compiling a book containing all the pictures.

In case you’re interested just contact me and I’ll send you three different pieces. Since I can provide plenty of material for interested artists, feel free to spread the word and encourage others to participate.

I’m looking forward to working with you (again) on this new project!
