MAIL ART PROJECT “Let Sky The Limit' is part of

    10 JAAR WOLKENBREIERS

    --------------------Be Part Of It---------------------

First 120 Postcards from USA, Brasil, Italy, Frence, The Nederlands, Mozambique, Iceland en Belgium https://www.facebook.com/leo.reijnders

To mark its 10th birthday, CLOUDKNITTERS is organising a MAIL ART PROJECT "Let Sky The Limit" and is inviting every artist we know to participate and make a Mail Art Work, the size of a postcard. We also should like each artist to invite all his/ her artist friends and colleagues to do the same:

our aim is to make an ‘artistic footprint’ of the Cloudknitters network.
These small pieces of art will be exhibited during the CLOUDKNITTERS 10- YEAR festival that lasts from 30th September until 23rd October in the Old Bourse, Hofstraat 15, 2000 Antwerp (Belgium)
This Old Bourse is the oldest stockmarket of Antwerp for international trading. The Pagadder Tower (1533) was a watch-tower whose purpose was to spot ships so they could be compelled to pay excise duties. This happened during the Spanish occupation, and the tower was manned by officers who were considered too small to fight. Pagador means paymaster in Spanish, but here in Antwerp they still use the word pagadder’ (affectionately) for a small girl or boy.

    http://www.andreabrewee.be/…/…/19%20pagaddertoren/index.html

Each of the little Mail Art works will be used for a video and will be exhibited on the internet.

On the last day of the exhibition, all of the works will be sold for 20 euros each and this money will be used to fund the Cloudknitters festival.

Thus, all the works that I receive before 23rd October can be part of this project. It starts from the moment you read this …until 23 October 2016.
    The theme is "THE CLOUDKNITTERS".
Please send your postcard-sized artwork to:

    Leo Reijnders

    Bouwensstraat 9

    2140 Borgerhout (Belgium)

Mail Art against the Dakota Access Pipeline

Governor Jack Dalrymple, 600 East Boulevard Ave, Bismarck, ND 58505-0100

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has been locked in a legal battle to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline from impacting it’s cultural, water, and natural resources. The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is a 1,168-mile long crude oil pipeline that will transport nearly 570,000 barrels of oil each day from North Dakota to Illinois. The Army Corps of Engineers green-lighted several sections of the process without fully satisfying the National Historic Preservation Act, various environmental statutes, and its trust responsibility to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

The current proposed pipeline route crosses under Lake Oahe, just a half mile up from the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

We believe that the Dakota Access Pipeline has great potential to leak into the Missouri River and cause harm to the great people of this nation whose water and livelihood depends on the river. In Dakota/Lakota it is said: “mni Wiconi.” - Water is life. Native American people know that water is the first medicine for all life on this earth.

The proposed Dakota Access Pipeline would transport 570,000 barrels of crude oil per day, across four states. Oil companies keep telling us that this is perfectly safe, but we’ve learned that that’s a lie: from 2012-2013 alone, there were 300 oil pipeline breaks in the state of North Dakota.

Please make mail art in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

    You can send it to

    North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple,

    600 East Boulevard Ave,

    Bismarck, ND 58505-0100

    Hi Ruud,

my best friends are living in Finnland... so of cause I want to congratulate them by  being a part of this   Mail-Art-Project....

  • Ruud Janssen

My name is Karen Milszeski, I was a volunteer at Gallery 325 which was in the house of Marilyn Dammann ( Shadow Works). The gallery closed this year and a great deal of the mail art she had received is being cataloged at the Calumet Art Center up in the Keweenaw peninsula. The director of the center Ed Gray was a dear friend of Marilyn's. After we get the mail art cataloged we will have a monthly show of the mail art that she received either by artist or by the calls for art. We were wondering if anyone out there has any of Marilyn's mail art that she created to be added to what we have. Your response would be appreciated. Message me on Facebook or email sidnawbooks@yahoo.com. Check out The Calumet art Center on Facebook or web page. Thanks for your time. Karen

    Post–truth

    Introduction:

The Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year is a word or expression chosen to reflect the passing year in language.

Post-truth has been nominated as the Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year 2016 and is an adjective defined as ‘relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief’.

    [ref: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/word-of-the-year/word-of-the-year...]

Other words which were shortlisted were,

    adulting nouninformal

The practice of behaving in a way characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks.’,

    alt-right noun

An ideological grouping associated with extreme conservative or reactionary viewpoints, characterized by a rejection of mainstream politics and by the use of online media to disseminate deliberately controversial content.’,

    Brexiteer noun, informal

A person who is in favour of the United Kingdom withdrawing from the European Union.’,

coulrophobia noun Extreme or irrational fear of clowns’,

    woke adjective, US informal

[originally in African-American usage] Alert to injustice in society, especially racism.’

    Project Brief:

It is clear that this selection of words represent a certain mood within society both within Europe and America, and is a representation of the increased sense of unease in the world.

The question for this Mail-Art project is what does the word ‘Post-truth’ represent?

    MYA WINGED GODDESS
A project by Domenico Ferrara Foria for M.Y.A. 2016

In this poster I have depicted a strange creature with winged head, perhaps the antagonist of the God Mercury. Spaced eyes… staring at her gives you migraine! She is wearing a strange helmet. Leaves grow from her chin and wrap around her face, as if to symbolize a rebirth... the rebirth of the Archives of Mail Art. The image is encased in a frame that could recall the Art Nouveau style. This strange creature is not simply a symbol of the archives of Mail Art, but of all Mail Art. This strange creature has a name: MYA.

Mail Art is expressed through the mail. The Postal Administrations raise the postage rates.
As a form of protest for these increases we invite everyone, mail artists or not, to download the poster of MYA (winged Goddess), to print it letter size, to take adhesive tape and camera and to put up the poster on street mailboxes, Post Offices, on your mailbox or in other public places.
Photograph this action and post the images on the DodoDada web site at http://dododada.ning.com./group/mya2016  (if you are not registered on the site, register or send the photos to vittorebaroni@alice.it).
Specify your full name, your email, and the town and street address of the place where the action was performed.
Mail Art is participation. Do participate!|
Deadline: January 17th, 2017 (Art’s Birthday, according to Robert Filliou).

Documentation: inside the final Newsletter of M.Y.A. 2016.

Please help to circulate this invite, thanks!

    Altered art book

    Hello from Greece,

I would like to make a collaborative art book and send a few pages from a Greek book to artists that are interested. You can alter them (paint them, use collage, photos or anything else you want on them). Please do not crop these pages because I intend to bind them together in order to create an art book, made out of 30-40 mail artists. Should you use less pages than those I sent you, please send the rest back to me so that I can send them to somebody else. If you feel that you may need other Greek book pages for your mail art projects I will gladly send you some more as well as some of my own altered book pages.

If you like to take part to my project please comment here and message me your address.

Thank you for your participation to my project.

    Mail Art call on EggSandwich

International Mail Art Project: Osnabrueck, Germany, 2017

Mail artists from all over the world are invited to participate in this international mail art project by Manfred Heinze and the CityGallery of Osnabrueck.

All received mail art work will be exhibited in the CityGallery of Osnabrueck in May, June  and July 2017 and online on a special website.

All the works will become part of the EiBrot Mail Art Collection for further exhibitions.

    THEME: EggSandwich (German = EiBrot)

A tribute to all eggs on bread all over the world.

The only thing that is important is the aesthetics, the colors, the proportions and the composition of the EggSandwich. Apart from that the EggSandwich will not change anything, it will not criticize anything and it want´s no discussion. In this project the egg is not a symbol of beginning life, the bread is not a symbol for the human being or man-made things or even a divine symbol, the eating of the EggSandwich is not a vanitas motif. It´s not erotic and it´s not political. An EggSandwich is a bread with an egg on it, a little piece of artwork, beautiful and delicious - and nothing else.

    SIZE: Postcards only please (10 x 15 cm / 4“ x 6“) with or without envelope

(backsite of postcard or envelope will not be shown in exhibition)

    MAXIMUM: 3 postcards

    TECHNIQUE: free

RULES: no jury, no fees, no selling, no return of works, original works only - no copies, no offensive

EXHIBITION: from 2017-may-14 to 2017-july-09 City Gallery Osnabrueck

Please indicate on backside of the artwork: name, address, email address, title of your work, technique

    DEADLINE: 2017-april-21 must be arrived

    Send your mail art to:
