Smiles & Smirks

Art with a measure of humour is required by Walmarth Corporation for its chain of supermarkets, located in the Queendom of Retailia and in Cascadia Artpost. Through this collaboration Cascadia Artpost and Mail Art Martha are continuing to give impulse to Trashpo, the artistic vision of Diane Keys.

‘Walmarth Corporation is an entertaining and witty parody of corporate, consumer culture. Cascadia Artpost’s painstaking realization of Mail Art Martha’s ideas through detailed, special effects style models makes Walmarth Corporation one of the crowning achievements of Trashpo in the half-decade that it has been producing a large quantity of art.’

In addition to Trashpo the Corporation has now expanded to include political satire, parody, comics, caricature and witty playfulness.

And here is The Clutch Supplement. Double click to enlarge, I think...

  • Michael Leigh

I don't see the "Anti-Gravity Bidet" in your supplement?   Hopefully it will return in the future months?

  • Sabrina S

    Haha, I LOVE the dishwasher!

  • Mail Art Martha

Thank you Sabrina and, Michael, a new model of the Anti-Gravity Bidet is on order.

  • Michael Leigh

Order this one as well Martha - the Fish Finger Glockenspiel !

  • Fleur Helsingor

This one is definitely a smile: a "Cat on Tablecloth" card from Mail Art Martha. It was accompanied by the "Marpril" issue, "Foldi22", and an Easter greeting note.

Don't worry, Martha, I received your mail in time for Easter. I'm just slow!

Franny Wahinehae invite us to have a Depinking, the novel treatment to enjoy exclusively at Walmarth! Thank you Franny for making fun of Barbie. Well done, I hate the anorexic doll. I prefer plump teddy bears, any colour but pink.

In these times of concern for the disposal of rubbish we should consider recycling our unwanted stuff, here is a list of items we could sell easily through the Sell and Buy Department at Walmarth, recently organized by the well known firm A1 Waste Papers Co Ltd.

  • Michael Leigh

Thanks Martha - also for the nice mail that arrived recently.  Always good to hear from you!   BTW   card printed by me and Mark Pawson in 2004.

  • Mail Art Martha

Oh! so that  is a vintage card, even more precious!

  • Michael Leigh

Yes, nearly 20 years ago but seems like last week to me!  Ha ha!

I received my copy of the Winter Solstice 2023 - Foldi 26 issue, with greetings for the new year. Thank you, Mail Art Martha, and I hope that this will be an art filled year for each one of you!

  • Mail Art Martha

Thank you Fleur for posting here.

A slide show of Rudi Rubberoid works. RIP.  He was very funny and generous with his rubber stamps and letters etc. Much missed.  Slide show doesn't seem to have worked. nevermind - heres a photo instead-

  • Mail Art Martha

Unfortunately I never had any contact with Rudi Rubberoid, so thank you for posting these stamps, Michael.

  • Michael Leigh

I can't remember how I became one of his contacts now.  Quite serendipitous isn't it how we made up our address lists!  The slide show does actually work ( for me anyhow!?)  if you click on the icon in top left hand corner of comment.

  • Mail Art Martha

It does for me also and very good it is! Thank you Michael

  • Michael Leigh

Great - thanks Martha.  Acouple of new doodles -

  • Mail Art Martha

Wow! You are not short of imagination!

Such inventive is absolutely beyond me, much admiration!

  • Michael Leigh

I cannot claim full responsibility - some of these images were inspired by drawings in the Sci-Fi Encyclopedia that I have, although I have changed them slightly.  "Leap"  is totally mine - off the top of my head. A new collage from my sketchbook -

Katerina! Michael! You two have shamed me, i haven't managed a single funny to add. Besides yours are so very good, I would never match them! Thank you !

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Michael Leigh is such fun...British humour?

Here is a fun "Leap" from Brad Bradford in South Dakota, USA.

  • Michael Leigh

Thanks all.  I try my best!  It doesn't always work!

Meanwhile, back at the Queendom, Walmarth has been delivering by snail its vouchers to redeem at the shop. Don't miss out, order yours now!

  • Michael Leigh

Some snails from me - designs for plate at Tatton Flower Show a few years back -

  • Mail Art Martha

Thanks Michael! Very decent snails, mine would have eaten the flower in seconds.

  • Mail Art Martha

Yesterday I received this intriguing envelope, with no return address. Who could have sent it? And why so shy? Watch this espace!

  • Michael Leigh

Was there anything inside the envelope Martha?   How intriguing!

  • Alan Brignull

It's a pity the postmark is so bad …

  • Mail Art Martha

I am late it is nearly night here but the intention was good.

I had a shock when I went to buy stamps, from £2.50 they have gone up to

    £2.80! Oh deary me!

  • Mail Art Martha

Who sent this? It is extremely funny and clever. Thank you, NoName!

  • Alan Brignull

How many peas did you receive, Martha?

  • Michael Leigh

H aha!   Give peas a chance!  (I'll get me coat!)

  • Mail Art Martha

I am afraid that I may not get all the peas I need in time for Christmas. I contacted Walmarth and I was told I should have ordered earlier.
