The Hannah Hoch Fan Club page members have a little project on the go.  It is rather last minute and more than a little ramshackle as nobody is in charge but it might be called 'Hannah Hock's Birthday Box' and it involves everyone sending everyone else a piece of work which the individual artists will collate into a box that they make or find or purchase at great expense from a local (to them) emporium. Her Birthday was the first of November so that is the nearest thing we have to a deadline though I doubt if anyone would object if things continue to arrive for a year or so.

Dear people, what kind of glue do you use for your collages? I used waterbased liquid adhesive and stick glue. First one dries hard, not elastic and in case you bend a glued postcard it "cracks" up. The last one just has to get a bit humid - and the parts fall off. I saw that many of you use a glue you can also use to put on top of the collages and it dries elastic, like rubber. What is it? Tell me your collage secrets!

  • Bradford

Here's what I use.  Spread a thin coat on both surfaces.  Let it "flash" (shine dries to a dull/matte finish), then carefully register both pieces together as it is not repositionable.

  • William M

i use a combination of glue stick and double stick tape. i'd be careful in using mod podge as if it's going somewhere where it's humid it can melt and become sticky. often ruining anything next to it.

Thank you all a lot for the information!

The paper cement looks most auspicious to me, I will try that first. I did not find the same brand in my craft store but one called  Marabu Fixogum that seems to be similar.

  • Bradford

OMG!  Marabu Fixogum is almost 3x as expensive as my suggestion and that is after a 40% discount from MSRP on Amazon ($19 vs $7 for approximately the same amount).

Performance-wise, it should be about the same.

Love collage.  The “issue” is I never think that I have enough collage material, though there really is plenty for a flock of collagists.  Yard sales, swaps, flea markets…more snd more….when does it end….?!
