I am going bananas, peeling of all these layers of multi meaning. Never kNEW there was so much interesting things to be done with a plain little onion! And so sexy too, with all those skirts. ( But maybe that's just my Dutch poetic brain) The news is in, the word is out, I'll trade lemons for leeks. LemON and OFF. OniON and OFF. If I cry, these are tears of joy.

My first idea for a title is ‘Longing for Onions’. But then I suddenly noticed that I did not know what the lion was looking at (the longing-for-onions-girl?). And, even more relevant: what he would be thinking? (‘longing-to-eat-the-longing-for-onions-girl’?, or just ‘shall I help you obtaining the onions which are too much out of reach for you now?’)

Luckily I had scanned them, so now I could turn them into email art for the Arnolfini Mini[e]MailArt project, No 63, about vegetables.

Fabulous onions as always...of course, I have painted onions from Heleen , oh yes! Ten years ago: August, 2013 ...in a real "onion net",too!

Thank you for reminding, Katerina, and yes, now I remember the net, and was/am amazed that the net slipped 'naked' (without envelope) through both the Dutch and Greek postal systems :-)
