TREES

A group devoted to the art of trees: free medium. Without trees the world would be dead and a place of disaster. With trees the world can tackle global warming. Hug a tree and you hug the earth, you hug yourself and your neighbors. Without trees, no love!

Without love, no trees.

A sequel to the mail art project SIGNS and STONES and TREES (of 1998).

Guido Vermeulen started this group. After his death the IUOMA members keep it alive with posting photos and drawings of TREES in memory of Guido.

While I don't typically add mere photos of trees to our group,
here's one that is worthy of viewing... Spruce, Aspen and
Pine below Mt. Sneffles yesterday, here in Colorado.

  • Bill Porter

A mile or so further down the mountain...

more aspen, pine, Spruce in the far background and oak brush to the
    right in variations of red.

    Enjoy!

    Happy Holidays everyone!

Remembering Guido. "Asemic Tree" De Villo Sloan

  • Bill Porter

Interesting, Mr. Sloan, thanks for sharing the image.

  • Amy Irwen

    Love it DeVillo!!!! Super respect!

  • De Villo Sloan

Thx, Guido used to see asemic writing in trees and he inspired me to explore Eco-Asemics: mysterious symbols and texts that occur in nature.

  • Amy Irwen

    Guido would have loved it!

  • Bill Porter

Speaking of Guido, I have one of his envelopes from several years ago that I've split to serve as an A&P. Any Tree Group members here like to participate in a "trees" A&P?

  • Amy Irwen

I'm behind on all my other work...so I have to Pass!

  • Heleen de Vaan

    I'd like to be in.

I'm behind with a lot of work. But a Trees a&p I think a friority priority

  • Nat

  • Heleen de Vaan

Your great envelope arrived, Bill, thanks a lot!

I will add to it and forward to Norma

  • Heleen de Vaan

'The Red Tall Horse Universe meets a Tree'

is the title Guido gave to the picture shown.

Excellent, Heleen! Perhaps another Trees group member will also step up to add and pass on this one! Have fun!!  ~Bill @ The Olathe Poste

I think Guido would have loved our back yard.  Year round, it is a forest of beauty.

  • Bill Porter

I believe you're right, Pam. Lovely winter scene.

Another beautiful winter scene arrived yesterday at The Olathe Poste from our very talented tree-artist, Pam McVay...

  • Amy Irwen

    Pam very nice!

Added Guido's Book of Ann to Bill's tribute to Guido. She's reading it, sitting under a Tree.

    To be passed on...

  • Bill Porter

Excellent work, Heleen, I look forward to seeing it in person someday.
    Guido would be proud!!

    ~Bill @ The Olathe Poste

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Thank you, Bill!

To whom shall I forward it?

  • Bill Porter

Hi Heleen...  Norma Soulet indicated that she'd be willing to work on it next. But you might check with her, just in case.

    Great job on that artwork!

    ~Bill @ The Olathe Poste

  • Heleen de Vaan

I'll check if Norma will. Thank you again, Bill!

  • Amy Irwen

    Heleen your add is

    wonderful *!*

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Thank you, Amy!

I had to think of Guido's - Friour approved - project 'The Book of Ann', to which you've added, too. Time flies, his Book of Ann project has been already eight years ago..

Still curious, I am, about her. Guido wrote on top of his project that she was real to him, and (at least to me) mythical to us. She still is.

I hope that both he, from the star or cloud high in the sky, and the real Ann, will enjoy all things we do here, and friourly approve.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

How beautiful, Heleen, so lovely to sit under the tree and read.

Where is the "Book of Ann" now? Hope it comes to Greece one day, too.
