Spammers Mail-Art

PhillyVenues is now sending me emails to join her/his own network site. S/he is using my special ning-mailaddress for this. I'm sure now s/he is a spammer.
Can you please ban him/her, Ruud?

Jen Thomas sent me request to be my friend with comment to make money in google, it's definitly spammer, please ban him!

i was banned from Ambassade francophone on allegation of spamming . for this comment added 5 times ( just to insist for member's personal statement about a parallel betwen north american aboriginals from point of view of Toqueville Beaumont - la démocratie en amerique- and nowaday european peoples .)

Go Daddy has been removed because he was spamming advertisings.

Radio Star has been removed because he/she was using the site for publishing non-related links. Because of the frequence of spammers, I am considering a moderating of memberships again.

This group is now moderated. It already prevented one spammer from entering. Lets keep the group mail-art related and we will all enjoy it. Thanks for your reaction Gik. Always good to know that people agree with what I do - Ruud

Ruud, several of us are getting a mesage at the top of our page:
"What brings you here?"
And we cannot erase it. Is it spam or is it an ad from ning.com?
It is so annoying, hope it can be erased, please!

Check it, and remove it ?

Since I placed a moderated block on new members I had to decline about 20 commercial 'new member' who just wanted to make advertising for a link and were not art-related at all...

"What brings you here?" is a programm routine build in by NING. When you post something there it automatically is publiches on the main page. It is just a communication tool. Nothing more. I will have a look if I can remove it.

Thank you, Ruud. I noticed that those who have typed in something in the box that says "What brings you here?" automatically get posted at Main page, too. Guess it is a way for the site to have a direct communication with everyone. But I ignore it, hope it can be removed, but not a big problem if it cannot.

About one spammer a day is blocked from this network. It seems we get attention from spammers who want to use thie IUOMA platform to spread links. The moderation is good now. So far no spammer got through. And if so, they are banned immediately (that happened only 17 times without most of you knowing it).

Excellent Ruud, happy to be in a spam free place. Ban the spam!

A spammer with name 'second' has just been removed. Seems they send messages to indidual members with advertisings for commecial business. With almost 1000 members this place gets interest of spammers, but with your help we will keep it spam-free.

What about Jenny H Pierce who joined on her birthday yesterday (03 MAR) and whose web site is a solicitation for Forex Robot software for trading currency futures?

Thanks Brad for pointing on those two possible spammers..... They just want to advertise their links and don't have anything to do with mail-art. They will be removed to keep this a mail-art place

Every day new members to the IUOMA come in. We are now with 1200+ members. Sometimes a spammer ytries to access. When I get links and details that are not mail-art related, i normally don't let members in. If a spammer does fool me and access the platform I hope people report that to me so I can take action.

This person Lindy from Togo Left the Love request message on 16 site this morning in one hour. One person is a minorr. her site has ZERO on it. I think Ruud ought to consider removing this person. This was bad.

Last week about 10 new members who tried to get info IUOMA turned out to be spammers. They link to commercial websites and don't answer the basic questions they are asked..... Seems this IUOMA platform is attractive for spammer. But they don't get in though.

Thanks for doing a good job, Ruud. I, too, also notice if any members never contribute, never post again, and/or never add their artwork to photos on their page. Many spammers, lurkers,etc., love to get to IUOMA because we have a good deal of personal info here. Thanks to you and your constant work, we feel safe.

Yes, understand your point. Selfpromotion is o.k. but should be limited.

Be friendly! People only do that when they are unsure of themselves. BUT limit members to people who are willing to list their addresses. I have asked for his to be added then I think we should all send him a welcome postcard.

Clara has been removed because of spamming the same message to make serious contacts to a whole list of contacts. Nothing to do with mail-art. Sorry for another spammer glimpsing through.

Thank you, Ruud! I thought something was amiss when there wasn't a mailing address for a Mail Art group! Check out a few other "lurkers", they come to IUOMA with no intention of art, or mail!

Mr. Ali Faroog is sending messages to a lot off members that are typical a spammer and scammer content. He has been removed from the IUOMA network.

This Mr. Ali Faroog had a nerve as well. He asked again with fake positive texts to get into the IUOMA network again. The spammers are very active because these social networks have a large reach. Thanks to the members who alerted me on the spamming. He was removed within a few hours and all his messages are deleted.
