Nothing is happening in this Group. I am ending it by suspending all the members, including you. Let me know if you want to take over the management of the Group and breathe some new life into it. Regards, Val

Thanks Katerina! I've written to Virgy to ask if she has any ino about her 45 project. Happy Easter (even though the Greek easter comes later).
WE HAVE A GROUPIE!
I was working in my Study when the door bell rang. I went downstairs, opened the door, and saw this young lady:
"Mmmm", I thought to myself. "Classic late 50's looks -- long blonde hair, pony-tail, short skirt, legs that go on for ever, AND she's carrying a Dansette record player."
"Hello", I said.
"Bonjour", she replied.
Sometimes I forget that I live in France. "Vous parlez anglais?"
"Non" she replied.
That's the trouble with young French kids today, they just don't have a proper grounding in English....
Will you please get on with the story, Val, as we don't want to hear your views on comparative education!
Sorry.
So I asked her, in French, of course, what I could do for her?
"I want to be your Groupie!" she said.
I was somewhat taken back by this. "Well, there's not really a vacancy for a Groupie at the moment, and there's also a waiting list for the position, but perhaps you could come back in about an hour's time and I'll see what can be done."
"Non, she said. "You don't understand. I want to join your Vinyl Art Group."
"Oh." Pause. "Well yes you can." Pause. "What's your name?"
"Marie-Antoinette."
"That's not a very rock'n'roll name. Can I call you 'Peggy Sue'?
"Oui". Pause. "What's your name?"
"Valentine Mark".
"That's not a very rock'n'roll name either. Can I call you something more rock'n'roll-able?"
"OK. But what are you going to call me?"
"I don't know. Ask the Vinyl Art Group for a suitable nom de plume disque."
OK Gang...what should I ask Peggy Sue to call me??
Here's the ol' announcement from Virgy's "45"...
somewhere there must be a link to see the contributions of 2009...
'just have not found it yet...but there were lots of painted "45 rpm" vinyls!
Great vinyl record art here! Wow!
And I hunted up the "45 rpm" mail art project that Virgy Milici in Italy
had back in 2009:
I set up the ones with sheet music last year. All of the ones that are vinyl only have been done since Monday. Yesterday afternoon, I decuided tohave a photo shoot on my terrace using Mr Noone's vinyl and whatever bits and pieces I could find in my study. Now I'm going to the Studio where more vinyl awaits me....
CONFESSIONS OF AN ANALOGUE ONLY VINYL MAN: Part 1
Explanatory note.I used to be a writer and self-published about ten books in the mid-and late 20004s -- I had never even heard of Mail Art then. This became too expensive, so I turned to Art, and then to Mail Art, instead, mistakenly thinking it would be cheaper. It isn't. In 2009, I edited a book called 'Collections and Collectors' about the collections and collecting habits of a group of my friends. I wrote a chapter called 'Confessions of an analogue only digital man'. It might interest you in the context of this Group, and I will 'serialise' it in the next few days. Here is how it starts.
*****
CONFESSIONS OF AN ANALOGUE ONLY DIGITAL MAN
I know it’s only rock’n’roll, but I like it, like it, yes, I do”
(The Rolling Stones)
A BIG collection of music
In my Vinyl Record Collection, I have about: I) 800 7” vinyl 45 rpm single records, ii)1,040 12” vinyl 33 rpm long player (LP) records, and iii) there are also about 850 cassettes).
The number of tracks (tunes) that are in this Collection are about:
1,650 for the 45’s (2/record, but there are some EP’s –Extended Players --with 4 tracks)
13,200 for the 33’s (12/record, but there are some double albums), and
17,850 for the cassettes (21/cassette, half of which are pre-recorded, half of which I have recorded
That adds up to 32,700 tracks.
But there is some overlap – the same track on more than one 45, 33 or cassette – say, 15%, so the number of different tracks equals 27, 795.
Let’s call it 28,000.
If each track lasts for 3 ½ minutes, this amounts to:
98,000 minutes of continuous listening time, or
1,633 hours of continuous listening time, or
68 days of continuous listening time.
As I said, it’s BIG.
