Thanks for all that Tuscaloosa info, Katerina & Michelle.
I expect to learn that you sang it together in Harilaou & Tuscaloosa tomorrow on THE 1st INTERNATIONAL VINYL ART DAY
Katerina,
Is that Tuscaloosa song from Lyle Lovett? Since Tuscaloosa is the home of the University of Alabama, our "unofficial" theme song is Sweet Home Alabama! When you get to the chorus . . Sweet Home Alabama . . .then you yell "Roll, Tide Roll" in the musical rest between "Where the skies are so blue." Tuscaloosa actually comes from Chief Tuskaloosa. Roll Tide! Thanks for the song! I'll have to send you some art!
Erni blasts a 12" across to America.
I received this fantastic vinyl art from Erni Bär this past week. Really digging the cans . . .
Thanks Erni . . . this one would not fit into the postbox gallery, so my mail-carrier had to deliver this one directly to the front door. Always a good thing to see her smiling face, delivering packages from far off places.
I am working on one....
ERNI'S LATEST CONTRIBUTION TO THE 1st INTERNATIONAL VINYL ART DAY!
Here it is, folks, starting with the outer package:
So Kurt whistles, and it seems that there ain't no way to shut him up.
All we can do is turn him over:
OK, Erni -- you don't look a day over sixty years. Honest! Would we lie to you?
Nice skirt; though!
What's inside the package:
Do you know what it is? No? Do you want me to give you a clue, Brian, or would you rather wait in limbo?
Well, that was the clue. If you don't get it, then here's the other side of the album inner sleeve:
And now THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!
Let's hear it for Erni and 'The Chocolate Suite'!
Well here it is -- 'The Spider Kleber Suite' by Erni & the UHUs!
THANKS ERNI, A GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO OUR VERY OWN SPECIAL DAY
(One of the rules of entries for the Day, is that any eatable contributions
caan, and most probably will, be eaten by Vinyl Val. However, he may just leave this one intact [for now])
Well, singing about TUSCALOOSA:
"...This Georgia road is red,
The Georgia sky is blue,
And it looks just like the day.
That carried me to you.
The good Lord up in heaven knows
What I've been going through,
And he's whispering to me,
That I'll get over you
My angel in distress.
You look OK to me,
I'll send you my address, (mail artist singing?)
When I know what it will be
I could easily stay with you,
On your side of heaven's door.
'Cause I don't love you any less
But I can't love you anymore..
It's Tuscaloosa, Birmingham.
Or Baton Rouge,
Hell I don't know just where I'm at
To tell the truth,
But the good Lord up in heaven knows..."
