I came across almost 50 unused postcards of an unfortunate looking lake in Virginia at a junk shop yesterday and I think they have potential.
I was hoping that I could send them out to any interested artist, they could alter them as they see fit, send them back to me, and I could publish the responses in any format the group would like. Maybe I could scan them and create a Tumblr page?
No restrictions on the medium or content, first 47 responses, and I will publish as we go.
I am open to any and all suggestions.
I am also a new member, so please correct and forgive me if I don't understand quite how things work yet. Participants will be sent a piece of art from me as well.

I mailed my postcard this morning. I forgot to take a photo of it, so I'm looking forward to it being posted at the tumbler page so I may show it to a friend of mine.
Good idee with the map. I hope that you soon can put a needle on my little country - Denmark-
Hey minneapolis gnome--what a great addition to the project! Enjoyed reading about your process for re-creating the card.
Hi Diana--really like the map of participants' location--makes a great visual. Use it in the exhibit if it comes to pass. Thanks again for initiating this fun project!
I'm sorry too. Thank you :)
I am sorry, Erin. Good news is that I have one with your name on it. I will send one in the morning.
Hi Diana, So still no postcard in the mail :(
If you still have any left please feel free to resend... Stupid post office. Losing all kinds of art :(
Dear Diana
I poste my contribution to the Philpott Lake Project tomorrow. I think you may have it in a week or so.
Kind regards
Birthe
I think an exhibit at Philpott would be a great idea and I imagine the folks there at Philpott Lake would be excited to see it and know that people from around the world participated.
You're right about how I made the postcard - I took one of your digital photos of the postcard and went hunting for appropriate pictures of fishing gnomes. I used pixlr.com to re-size the gnome photos and erased everything around the gnomes from those pictures. I did a little bit of digital drawing on poles, fishing line and fish and erased some of the gnome in the boat to let the tree branches look like they were in front of him. I printed the photo, then glued it onto the original post card and used white out tape to create the white border after feeling like my white gel pen just didn't look enough like a post card one might buy at a shop.
I've never done an "art call" before and I really liked this. I hope you consider doing more projects like this in the future because you did such an awesome job with this one. Like I said, I love the fish envelope, etc. that you sent - just so awesome.
