Iceland weather is really interesting, its only constant is change. For example this morning; and I use the term loosely, when I awoke it was cold and pimply sissing down and now it is warm, sunny and bright.
In Iceland the rain comes at you from the side and the only use of an umbrella is as a plaything for the wind.
After a suitably sustaining breakfast of a cheese and ham sandwich and copious tea I braved the weather to walk down the hill to the bus station at Hlemmur with the aim of taking the number 15 over to Reykjavik airport to book my flight to the sheep farm on Langaness. I was sat there waiting for my bus when Helgi phoned and offered to take me over to the airport as he was on his way to the city hall to control an exhibition of photographs for which he is responsible in his curator role.
I got my one-way ticket at a cost of 1.600 Icelandic crowns which is about €100.oo and will be flying north on Monday morning. I called Mirjam at the sheep farm and she informed me that they have a wireless internet connection I can use, so I will be able to continue the blog from there. Expect plenty of photos from my favourite spot on the planet.
On the way back we called in to city hall (photo) and then on to the offices of the political party which runs a continuous protest against the misbehaviour of the establishment elite (Icesave et al) to have tea with Dalli. The result of the Dutch election which took place this week became a subject of the conversation. I was invited to join the protest planned for tomorrow.

I left the offices as they locked up and walked down to the shore of Reykjavik harbour, took photos of the white house where Regan and Gorbachov signed the accord which ended the cold war (photo) and a few more shots of Mount Asja which in on the other side of the fjord.

Today was a day of rest, I strolled into town to get some honey for my tea and then, just as it began to rain made it back here to spend the afternoon drinking tea. This evening Saevi and Isaac came and picked me up for a drive out to the end of the peninsula where we saw a pair of Swans with four chicks and a large colony of Great Black-Backed Gulls, Driving rain kept us driving so here are a couple of photos from yesterday. The first is an aerial view of the rhiolite mountains in Landmannalaugar and the second is of Helgi sporting an Iceland tan.

Indeed! Home again and it feels totally wonderful to be here. After an uneventual and thus boring journey I was met at the airport by Helgi. It is a very warm 15 degrees C, Helgi is sun tanned. We drove around the coast and then inland on Reykjaness peninsula for a couple of hours before heading back to Reykjavik to collect the keys of this apartment from Veiga the daughter of Magnús. The first thing to be done on getting into the apartment was to wash down all the surfaces as the windows were open and everything was covered in a layer of volcanic ash. The second thing was to clean the refridgerator as there were some very dead bits of animal in there indicating their presence with a distinctly disagreeable pong. Cleaning done it was off to the super market to get in some provisions and top up my Icelandic mobile phone before going up and down and up the street for dinner with Helgi and Sif. And yes it is great to be back in Iceland and yes it is bed time. First photos tomorrow.

Thanks to you all. This will be my 20th visit to Iceland in the last 30 years. The purpose of this years visit is to spend some time with my friends on the sheep farm on the coast of the Arctic Ocean and to gather information and interview suitable artists and musicians to take part in a festival of the cream of Icelandic arts a friend is curating in the town of Roermond... oh and the 'SHEEP' performance of course. I'm packed and ready to go, all things being connected, expect my first blog tomorrow evening.
