Mail Art Call: "Art of the Hand"
There is a kind of knowledge no algorithm can produce.
Craft knowledge is embodied knowledge. It exists in practice, repetition, and material intelligence. It forms part of what is internationally recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
In the context of the annual Days of Craft in Saxony, Germany, Miniaturendrechslerei Uhlig will present an international Mail Art exhibition dedicated to regional craftsmanship and artisanal traditions.
We invite artists worldwide to submit a Mail Art piece referencing a craft tradition from their own region — historic or contemporary.
Possible approaches include:
depiction of tools or workshops
interpretation of traditional techniques
use of regionally significant materials
conceptual reflections on making and manual knowledge
The exhibition seeks to highlight the diversity of global craft cultures and their relevance today.
Each participant will receive a small thank-you gift.
Details:
Any technique is welcome!
Use an official postcard format of your choice.
Deadline: 31.08.2026
Please send your contribution to:
maxie eulig
schiersandstr. 21
09116 chemnitz
germany
Please write your name, the date, your country/region and the craft you are referring to on the back of your postcard.
We look forward to your participation!
ah, thanks for that info MH/ANTIPODE - I don't think I'd have picked up on that.
It is a bit complicated, on the bottom of the page are two links for .docx documents... you need to fill out a form to send them per e-mail with an jpeg (even when you send in physical afterwards) and on one of the two forms the adress can be found, personally i decided to simply treat it like e-mail art... but anyways, this is the address:
Eskişehir Osmangazi University
Faculty of Art and Design
Meşelik Campus
Büyükdere Mah.
Prof. Dr. Nabi Avcı Boulevard No: 4
Floor 3, Room 314
Attn: Res. Asst. Sena Sarıca
26480 Odunpazarı
ESKİŞEHİR
TURKEY
Good luck, lol
am i missing it? i don't see a postal address for the turkey call.
