An artistamp (a portmanteau of the words "artist" and "stamp") or artist's stamp refers to a postage stamp-like artform. It is similar to a Cinderella stamp in that it is not valid for postage, but it differs from a forgery or a bogus stamp in that (typically) the creator has no intent to fool any post office or collector of stamps. (However, depending on how the stamp is used, it may be difficult to distinguish artistamps from local post stamps.) The artistamp is intended to be a miniature artwork which can depict or commemorate any subject its creator chooses.

Thank you, Robin!

Carolyn, of course I missed an obvious source for the 2 cents you wanted - clip it from a stamp (preferably a used one) then the theme of 'collage' and 'mail' carries through everything.  Keep at it. . .

Such a pretty stamp Carolyn!

Looks good,  Thanks!  The obvious answer of more area somehow eluded me. I blame the meds! LOL

You make it sound like a chore Carolyn - it is supposed to be a pleasure.  You could just use pen and ink - or pencil even - though not a biro.  For heavens sake, not a biro!  Whatever you do, practice first before you mark the originals. . .

Thanks, Mary Anne. I think it’s probably going to come down to messing with them on the computer (shudder) or maybe gluing them onto a backing to frame them and then cutting numbers out of tiny books and glueing them onto the frames. They’re pretty small and I am too stubborn to change the designs.

Several options come to mind: rubber stamps might work if you have some or, perhaps better still, grab your scissors and head for a pile of magazines.

Other than that you could add the type with a computer gizmo such as 'paint' or, if you really wanted to collage, type what you want to put into the computer , print it out whatever size is needed, then cut and paste . . .

I'm sure other people will have suggestions too.

I couldn’t upload them on the group, but I was successful posting them on page 4 of my “Outgoing” album. I would be grateful if you would take a look and give me some input. Thanks!

Some days I just want to bite somebody! I just made some artistamps last night and I can’t seem to post the picture. I’m disappointed because I would like some feedback and suggestions.

The stamps are collaged, and IMHO they lose something when they are reproduced. They’re flatter—what a surprise. Suggestions? Also, I want to put “2C” on them, but not sure how to do it. In the past, I bought sticker sheets of little tiny letters, but not sure how that would look with the collage. Other ideas?
