Yes, similar to my vision.

Some prosaic, banal event touches you and awakens 999 metaphors.

here specifically, you try to focus on one thing, straighten your spine, look straight into the eyes, and a thousand flies, shadows, invertebrates are LEFT AND RIGHT. Of course you know your goal and sense the right path... you can just ignore them. But even that ignoring doesn't really exist, you screwed up a bit, gave up on the bigger picture.
