Last year Carmen Kennedy invited me to collaborate on a book exchange project: she started (made) the book and we each added, sent it back across the Atlantic, added again and again, etc. I really enjoyed this.
I'm involved in a local-ish artists book group and they recently had a table at an adult education centre open day, somewhere that teaches artists book-making courses. The person organising the group's display asked for examples of different forms of mark-making in books, because many new students make a book - blank - and are then lost over how to start filling it. I lent the book Carmen and I made, to show off a much wider meaning of 'making a book' as well as how to fill its pages! Carmen sliced up a large brown paper bag and folded it up to make the book. We then filled the pages with collage of all sorts plus some stamp printing, with a great end result. I must admit I was really proud to be able to lend it, hoping it would maybe open a few eyes?
Comment
oh, that's great! both the book and being able to share it with a wider audience as an example of what can be done.
It was good to have an opportunity to show mail art to people who are not already in the mail art world.
I congratulate You.
