Surrealist Society

I was turned on to Dali and Max Ernst in my 20s and that was it for me. Ever since, I’ve been a committed Surrealism fan and Surrealist artist. Though Surrealism covers a wide range of media, tones and styles, it has an unmistakable vibe for those who resonate with it. Dark, playful, wise, sad, mystifying, transcendent or heartbreakingly beautiful, Surrealism taps into our dreams and our buried feelings, reminding us of the strange complexity of what it means to be human. Please share your favorite Surrealist art and Surrealist mail art!

I myself feel a get a definite Surrealist energy from Mel Anie's repurposings of different combinations of words and images. New juxtapositions are part and parcel of the Surrealist vision. Thanks, Mel Anie!

I mix my -isms up a lot and some of them I don't even know exist. So whether this fits here or not, I don't know. But, Melanie Reed sent me some word cards. I had a little play; a bit of a mixed variety - and I repurposed the envelope that Melanie sent them in.

PS. I have a large print of the Toreador, from St Petersburg.

Thank you Melanie for the wonderful trio of surrealism! Really great stuff & I love the envelope. It really made my day when I opened my mailbox : )

If you like Russell Manning, you might like Freddie Baer, the collage artist who did "Ecstatic Incisions."
