(Color) Slide, from David Stafford

An amusing package with a clever little slide inside! I have put up the color slide on my window and there it stays for a while, while pondering what it means. Maybe it is David's childhood slide, maybe it's just a funny commercial sample that Kodachrome distributed years ago... Anyhow, I'm enjoying it lot!

Thanks for the interesting background info, David. I love this work even more now and I'm a very proud owner of one of your slides! In fact I feel less alone. Makes me think of ideas, around 1989 I had this brilliant idea to collect mine and my parents empty toothpaste tubes to make art of them. But after collecting about ten tubes I gave up... How many toothpaste ideas have I had since 1989!? Too many. Not to be compared with your slides! Happy exploring and thank you for your art, David!

Well, about a million years ago (1977) I thought I was an artist. I still think that once in a while actually. Anyway, I had this idea for a conceptual piece. Slides of slides. That is, Kodachrome Slides of Playground Slides. So I went around to all the local playgrounds and took slides of slides. Now Patti and I are both exploring our families slide collections and I dug a bunch of these out of the mulch of my existence. (The mulch layer is just beneath the forest duff and the fossilized pizza box layers respectively.) So I'm letting them out in to the world where the burden they have carried all these years, born under a bad pun, will continue to spread confusion and disarray where 'ere they light. Thanks for posting, Carina. Love your new lettering series. Or have you moved beyond that already?
