I love mail art of all kinds but thought I'd mention I've never been very good at collage or stamping or anything like that. I do admire people who can collage! My artwork on envies are usually watercolour, marker pens or colouring pencils. As a result these take a long time so I apologise that I can't churn artwork out fast. If I ever receive artwork from the beautiful people on this site, I indeed promise to send something back but can't guarantee when!!! I will write your address down for a later date and who knows I could have a day of pure art!!! I also want to mention that I'm incredibly thrifty, I would personally much prefer to stuff an envelope full of stuff to make the most of the 20 grams a £1.28 stamp affords me than sending out a postcard. I honestly just like the recipient to get the most out of me! Also I'm broke! Haha - I'm new to this so if I'm getting it wrong please tell me :)
Also themes I collect:
Elephants, Rabbits, Giraffes, Zentangle, Unicorns, Sheep, Whimsey Houses and anything vibrant!
Not sure I'm allowed to put this in but couldn't harm: Other things non arty:
Paper currency, greetings cards, posters (in the above themes perhaps), any and all stamps.

Katie, this is the last but probably not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on 09 June, I was unable to welcome you on board. At the time I was in a celestial journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end when you decide it’s the right time to start trading snail mail art. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
The Celestial Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 24827
Curitiba-PR
80510-970
Brazil
II look forward to see a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I will do my homework after receiving yours. This is a celestial promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland official envelope provider.
Thanks for the explanation...and the offer of some of your art.
OK, sticking to what we've got so far, here's 3 themes, and you have to work out their level of difficultness:
i) noodles (pasta?)/noodling;
ii) canoodling (if that's a word)/canoes [I have a rather risqué joke involving French beer that is relevant at this stage]
iii) noodling and/or canoodling in a canoe with a rabbit.
Go, Katie, Go!
Dear Katie ,
Welcome to IUOMA!
It's a great bunch of folks and I hope that you enjoy exchanging Mail Art with us. I'm your Mentor, and if I can help to ease you into IUOMA in any way, then please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to explain what's going on and how IUOMA works.
If you haven't already done so, I suggest you take a look at the 'New to IOUMA' page (4th from the left at the top of the IUOMA home page) where you'll find a 10-point Introductory Guide that should give you an insight as to what is going on.
Would you like to exchange some Mail Art with me? If so, send me something to 1 Rue de la Vieille Fontaine, F-11130 Sigean, France, and I PROMISE to send you something back.
Hoping you enjoy your IUOMA days; it can be expensive though when you spend, as i do, more on stamps than I do on fruit & veg at the local market
