The Ocean Between VIII – Luminosity A Symposium Celebrating Light, Transformation, and Cultural Connection

This summer, Chicago transforms into a vibrant hub of transatlantic dialogue. Under the artistic direction of Marianna Buchwald and Tamara Wasserman, The Ocean Between VIII – Luminosity offers a dynamic platform where international artists come together to explore light, transformation, and the threads that weave across cultures.

The exhibition isn't just a showcase—it's a celebration of interdisciplinary exchange and creative encounters. Among the featured artists are Germany's Franz Betz, Harro D.B Schmidt, Michaela Hanemann, and Lars Schumacher, who contributes the unique mail art project “Fluxus 2025”.

Beyond the gallery walls, the symposium opens up into a rich program of workshops, discussions, and interactive formats that invite every participant into the heart of the experience. Artists won’t just display their work—they’ll engage directly with the audience in inspiring conversation and shared creativity.

One of the absolute highlights is the collaboration with the Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, presenting a stunning lineup of performances on August 1 & 2, 2025 at their venue:

The following artists have submitted works for the call for entries, and I would like to briefly introduce them. I have compiled these texts from information found in biographies, websites, newspaper articles, and artist directories. This text is my draft that I would like to continue working on. Maks Dannecker

Maks Dannecker is a German photographer known for her conceptual approach to photography. Born in 1976, she trained at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule Stuttgart and later pursued curatorial studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2018. Her work integrates fluorescent pigments, shapes, and surfaces, creating narratives that explore themes such as urban densification and architectural lighting conditions, particularly in Japan. Dannecker has exhibited internationally, with her works featured in collections such as the Sammlung Haupt in Berlin, Sammlung Spallart in Salzburg, and the Artothek of the German Bundestag. She is also a member of the Neue Gruppe Haus der Kunst München, the Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, and the Verein Berliner Künstler (VBK).

  

Manuel Ruiz Ruiz

Manuel Ruiz Ruiz is a contemporary artist with an international exhibition record, primarily shown in Spain, while also appearing in exhibitions across Italy, the Netherlands, and elsewhere. His first verified exhibition was Focus Latin America: Art Is Our Last Hope at Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, AZ in 2014, marking an important moment in his artistic journey. His most recent show was the VIII Exposición Internacional De Arte Postal En Avilés: La Muerte at Palacio de Valdecarzana in Asturias in 2024. Ruiz has been part of 15 group exhibitions in the past decade, showcasing his work alongside artists such as Ruggero Maggi and Pedro Bericat. Notable exhibitions include Spazio Contemporanea in Brescia and Kunstraum Reuter in Berlin, solidifying his presence in the European art scene.

 

Manuel Sainz Serrano

Manuel Sainz Serrano is a contemporary artist with an extensive international exhibition record, primarily shown in Spain, as well as in Germany, Italy, and beyond. His first verified exhibition was A Book About Death / Australia at Tweed Regional Gallery in Murwillumbah, NSW in 2013. His most recent exhibition, Vamos A Jogo, was held at Quinta da Cruz - Centro de Arte Contemporânea in Viseu in 2025. Serrano has participated in 17 group exhibitions over the last 12 years, contributing to renowned venues such as the New York Public Library in New York City and Kunstraum Reuter in Berlin. One of his notable exhibitions was Focus Latin America: Art Is Our Last Hope at Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, AZ in 2014.

  

Manuel Xio Blanco

Manuel Xio Blanco is a contemporary artist with an extensive exhibition record, primarily showcased in Spain, as well as Italy, Germany, and other locations. His first verified exhibition was Focus Latin America: Art Is Our Last Hope at Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, AZ in 2014. His most recent participation was in Vamos A Jogo at Quinta da Cruz - Centro de Arte Contemporânea in Viseu in 2025. Over the past 11 years, Blanco has been featured in 24 group exhibitions, establishing his presence in the international art scene. Notable exhibitions include presentations at Spazio Contemporanea in Brescia, reinforcing his artistic influence across Europe.

  

Marcelo Eduardo Merino Falcon

Marcelo Eduardo Merino Falcón is a Chilean mail artist who has been active in the international mail art network since 1990. His artistic journey began with poetry, later evolving into mail art after discovering the work of Guillermo Dreisler, a fellow Chilean artist. Merino Falcón is a member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), where he engages in global artistic exchanges. His work reflects the collaborative and experimental nature of mail art, emphasizing communication and artistic dialogue across borders.

  

Marcia Rosenberger

Marcia Rosenberger is a Brazilian mail artist actively engaged in the international mail art community. Based in Santo André, São Paulo, she is a member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), where she participates in global artistic exchanges. Her work has been featured in various mail art projects and exhibitions, including Rereadings of Verne’s Journey in Portugal and TRIBUTE IN MEMORIAM - EMILIO MORANDI: “ART LIFE” & “POETRY” at Il Graffiacielo Art Studio. Rosenberger's artistic practice embraces the collaborative and experimental nature of mail art, fostering connections across borders.

 

Marco Furia

Marco Furia was born in 1952 in Genoa, Italy. He is a renowned Italian poet and literary figure. His literary career began with collaboration with the well-known poet Adriano Spatola. Over the years, Furia has published numerous works in prestigious magazines and anthologies. In addition to his role as a poet, Marco Furia is also known as a literary critic and has participated in many literary events where he recited his own works. Some of his poems have been set to music by musicians Francesco Bellomi and Roberto Gianotti, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of his work. Furia is also known for his visual poetry, which has been exhibited in international exhibitions and published in both Italian and foreign journals. His diverse literary activities and contributions to modern Italian poetry make him a significant figure in the literary world.

 

Maria Castillo

María Castillo is an Argentine mail artist actively involved in the international mail art community. She has participated in exhibitions such as Migraciones Sin Fronteras at Casa de la Cultura Abelardo Forero Benavides in Facatativa, Colombia, in 2022. Castillo has exhibited alongside artists like Julien Blaine and Henry Grahn Hermunen, contributing to global artistic exchanges. Additionally, she has been involved in organizing mail art initiatives, including the IV National and International Call for Mail Art, titled When the River Sounds..., where she collaborated with Formas Expresión to coordinate the event

Maria Do Carmo Both

Maria Do Carmo Both is a Brazilian mail artist actively involved in the international mail art community. She is a member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), where she participates in global artistic exchanges and exhibitions. Both has contributed to various mail art projects, including events at the Federal University of Paraná Museum and the White Sanctum Art Gallery in Bengaluru, India. Her work embraces the collaborative and experimental nature of mail art, fostering connections across different artistic disciplines.

 

Maria E. Quiroga

Maria E. Quiroga is an Argentine mail artist known for her contributions to visual poetry and mail art. She has been actively involved in international artistic exchanges, participating in projects that emphasize global collaboration and artistic dialogue. Quiroga's work has been featured in platforms such as Artist Matter Zine and the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), where she engages with fellow artists in experimental and conceptual art practices

 

Maria Teresa Cazzaro

Maria Teresa Cazzaro is an Italian mail artist based in Padua, Italy. She has been actively involved in the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA) since 2012, contributing to global mail art exchanges and collaborative projects. Cazzaro has participated in numerous mail art initiatives, including "The Mosaic", organized by the Creative Experimental Laboratory of the Torre Social Centre. Her work often explores themes of visual poetry and experimental art, engaging with international artists through exhibitions and online platforms.

 

María Victoria Boné Ramírez

María Victoria Boné Ramírez (Marité) is an artist from Nueva Palmira, Uruguay. She later moved to Colonia del Sacramento, where she currently resides. María Victoria is a visual artist who conducts workshops for children, young people, and adults. Her work is inspired by the Uruguay River, its fishermen, beaches, and the local people, including the indigenous Chanás and Charrúas, as well as Afro-descendants. She also finds inspiration in the history and culture of Porto, Portugal, which she discovered through photographs on the internet.

 

Marianna Buchwald

Marianna Buchwald is a German-born artist, curator, and educator known for her interdisciplinary approach to art and cultural exchange. She is the founder of International Art Adventures, an initiative that fosters collaboration between artists from different backgrounds. Buchwald has directed numerous multimedia performances, integrating visual art, dance, and theater in both Germany and the United States. She has curated exhibitions and symposiums, including The Ocean Between series, which showcases American and German artists. Her work often explores themes of mythology, environmental issues, and social dialogue, aiming to bridge cultures through artistic expression. In addition to her curatorial work, Buchwald has taught art, music, theater, and language in Chicago Public Schools, contributing to arts education and community engagement. She continues to develop international collaborations, organizing exhibitions and performances that highlight the intersection of art, activism, and storytelling.

 

Mariano Lo Gerfo

Mariano Lo Gerfo is an Italian mail artist known for his work in collage and visual experimentation. Based in Rome, Italy, he has been active in the contemporary art scene, contributing to projects that explore themes of freedom, social commentary, and abstract expression. His artistic practice often incorporates mixed media and conceptual collage, reflecting influences from political and visionary art. Lo Gerfo has participated in various mail art initiatives, including the Cercavo Il Sole project, which integrates abstract and informal artistic elements

 

Marilena Marson

Marilena Marson is an Italian mail artist whose work was featured in Telling Italo Calvino through postcards, a group exhibition at Artheka 32 in Rome in 2024. She is exclusively exhibited in Italy. Marson has exhibited alongside artists such as Sharon Pfau and Jasmina Miseljic, contributing to the broader network of mail art. Her work explores themes of literary interpretation and visual storytelling, engaging with the legacy of Italo Calvino through artistic exchanges.

Marina Salmaso

Marina Salmaso is a mail artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark, known for her experimental approach to visual art. Originally from Northern Italy, she has broken away from traditional artistic norms, blending graphic design, artist books, stamps, and mail art into her creative practice. Her work explores themes of identity, nationality, and borders, often incorporating recycled materials and iconic print elements to create thought-provoking compositions. Salmaso embraces a Fluxus-inspired attitude, challenging conventional artistic boundaries and emphasizing the immediacy of artistic expression. She has been an active member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA) since 2004, engaging in global artistic exchanges and collaborative projects.

 

Marzia Braglia

Marzia Maria Braglia is an Italian mail artist whose work has been featured in international exhibitions. She participated in ENDZEIT #56, a digital mail art exhibition at Museum Herxheim, showcasing her contributions to the collaborative project. Braglia is also active in the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), engaging in global artistic exchanges and supporting the mail art community. Her work explores themes of communication, artistic collaboration, and experimental visual narratives.

 

Massimo Conti

Massimo Conti is an Italian mail artist known for his experimental approach to visual communication. Based in Tuscany, Italy, he has been active in the contemporary art scene since 1990, specializing in photography, collage, and conceptual art. Conti's work explores themes of light, shadow, and composition, often incorporating elements of natural beauty and abstraction. He has contributed to international mail art projects, including "Journey to the Center of His Earth", a collaborative initiative within the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA).

 

Mattia Montemezzani

Verdiana Calia and Mattia Montemezzani are a collaborative artistic duo from Segrate, Italy. They have been working together since 2012, creating unique artworks that blend their individual styles into a cohesive whole. Both artists graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan in 2015, where they studied Graphic Arts. Their work often explores contemporary themes and techniques, including the "open form" style, where they move around the canvas in a dance-like manner to create their final pieces. They are known for their innovative approach to art and have participated in various exhibitions and projects.

 

Mehrangiz Talaiezadeh

Mehrangiz Talaiezadeh is an Iranian mail artist and figurative painter known for her work in realism and hyperrealism. She holds degrees in English language teaching from Shiraz, Iran, and General Linguistics from Tehran, Iran, and spent years as an English teacher before fully dedicating herself to art. Her artistic journey began with a passion for color theory and classical drawing techniques, leading her to study Johannes Itten’s colorism and Loomis drawing methods. After retiring in 2018, she pursued professional training in drawing and painting, earning certifications from the International Technical and professional Organization in Iran. Talaiezadeh has participated in numerous international exhibitions and competitions, receiving awards for her work. She has also served as an art judge and adviser, contributing to both national and global art communities. Her ambition is to develop a new style of hyperrealism, incorporating her unique artistic standards and expressive use of warm colors.

 

Mehrangiz Yasemi

Mehrangiz Yasemi is an Iranian artist born in Tehran, Iran. She has gained recognition for her exquisite watercolor paintings, which often depict serene landscapes and intricate floral designs. Mehrangiz has participated in various group exhibitions and art fairs, showcasing her work in galleries across Iran, including Tehran, Esfahan, and Mashhad. Her art is celebrated for its delicate beauty and attention to detail.

 

Melanie Bäreis

Melanie Bäreis is a German painter and mail artist whose work exists at the intersection of fine art and literature. Born in 1997 in Erlangen, Germany, she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in English Literature at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Bäreis has been recognized for her contributions to contemporary art, earning nominations for awards such as the Albertus Art Prize, the KiR Art Prize, and the Werner Brand Art Foundation Art Prize. Her artistic practice explores themes of randomness, velocity, and disorder in life, reflecting on the contrast between expectations and reality. She has exhibited in various group shows, including at Künstlerhaus Sootbörn in Hamburg, Markgräfler Museum, and Kunstraum Reuter in Berlin. Her work captures the feeling of falling and the search for identity, encouraging a shift in perspective—viewing uncertainty as an opportunity for transformation

  

Meral Agar

Meral Agar is a Turkish artist known for her contributions to contemporary art. She graduated from Marmara University's Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1982. Meral began her artistic career with a painting course at the Painting and Sculpture Museum. Her work often explores themes of nature and human experience, and she has participated in various exhibitions and projects both in Turkey and internationally.

  

Michael Georg Bregel

Michael Georg Bregel was born 1971, in Munich, Germany, and currently resides in Berlin. He is a journalist, author, translator, and artist. After completing a radio internship at Radio Mainwelle in Bayreuth, he studied history and political science at the Otto-Suhr-Institut of the Free University of Berlin, earning a diploma in political science. From 1999 to 2004, he worked as a journalist for the Berliner Morgenpost. Since 2005, Bregel has been active as a freelance author, translator, editor, and artist. He has published poetry, prose, translations, and graphic works in various literary magazines, anthologies, and newspapers. Bregel is also known for his work in the comic industry, having written scripts and translated numerous Disney comics.

 

Michelangelo Mayo

Michelangelo Mayo is a Filipino-American mail artist and mixed-media creator based in San Jose, California. Active in the mail art community since 1988, he integrates graphic arts, experimental techniques, and printed works into his artistic practice. Mayo is also a scientist, with expertise in clinical laboratory science, healthcare, and microbiology, which influences his approach to visual art. His work has been featured in exhibitions such as Pain/2 Mail Art Show at the University of Southern California and Masculine Violence - II International Mail Art Project. He has also contributed to Dada and Fluxus movements, incorporating artistamps and mail art exchanges into his creative process.

 

Miguel Jiménez

El Taller de Zenon is the pseudonym of Miguel Jiménez, an artist born in Ávila, Spain, in 1953. He is a versatile artist known for his work in visual poetry and mail art. Around the year 2000, he began incorporating these elements into his artistic practice under the name "El Taller de Zenon," a virtual organization dedicated to the study and creation of images. El Taller de Zenon's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications worldwide. His collages often combine photographic images and drawings, exploring themes such as gender representation, social criticism, and surreal aesthetics. He has participated in various international projects and has been recognized in anthologies and catalogs of visual poetry.

 

Mikel Untzilla

Mikel Untzilla is a talented artist and mail-art enthusiast from Legazpi, Euskadi. Since 2015, he has been actively involved in the international mail-art community, sharing his unique creations with fellow artists around the world. His work often features a mix of traditional and contemporary techniques, showcasing his creativity and passion for artistic expression. Mikel's art is known for its diversity and innovation, and he has participated in numerous exhibitions and projects, both locally and internationally. He is a member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), where he continues to inspire and connect with other artists through his vibrant and thought-provoking pieces.

 

Mirta Caccaro

Mirta Caccaro is an Italian mail artist based in Vicenza, Italy. She has been actively involved in the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), contributing to global artistic exchanges. Caccaro's passion for painting and visual arts has developed over the years, leading her to explore mail art as a form of creative communication. She has participated in various collaborative projects, engaging with artists worldwide.

 

Movie Aria

Movie Aria: A Visionary Artist Exploring Contemporary Expression. Movie Aria is an emerging artist with a strong interest in the Fluxus movement, aiming to carve out a unique path in the contemporary art world. Their latest exhibition marks a significant milestone, as it is the first major showcase to receive international attention. Aria’s artistic vision is centered on experimental concepts and interdisciplinary approaches, reflecting the core principles of Fluxus—embracing spontaneity, collaboration, and unconventional artistic methods. With a commitment to pushing creative boundaries, Aria seeks to integrate new ideas into future projects, fostering innovation and artistic dialogue. As their career unfolds, Movie Aria continues to explore new artistic territories, shaping a distinctive presence in the evolving landscape of contemporary art.

 

Nani Corina

Nani Corina was born 1978 in Timișoara, Romania. She is a talented visual artist and graphic designer, known for her passion for street art. Nani holds a degree in Arts and Design from the West University of Timișoara. Throughout her career, Nani has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Romania and internationally. She has showcased her work in various prestigious events, including the International Biennial of Miniature Art in Tetovo, Macedonia, and the Miniprint International in Sofia, Bulgaria. Nani is also an active member of the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania.

 

Natacha Guiller

Natacha Guiller, also known as SNG, is a French multidisciplinary artist, poet, and performer. Born near the Lay River in Vendée, she later moved to Paris, where she developed her artistic practice. Guiller describes herself as a bricoleuse professionnelle, blending visual arts, poetry, performance, and fresco painting into her work. She studied Textile Design at ESAA Duperré and Fresco-Mosaic at Olivier de Serres, later earning a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Sorbonne. Her performances and exhibitions have been showcased at venues such as Le Générateur, La Gaîté Lyrique, La Maison des Métallos, and the Centre Georges Pompidou. Guiller’s work often explores themes of care, daily life, and artistic accessibility, collaborating with musicians, researchers, philosophers, and social workers. She has published several books, including Mocassin, je me prépare (2020) and Le Rapport Cauda (2021).

 

Nieves Salvador Bayarri

Nieves Salvador Bayarri is a Spanish poet and visual artist from Alcalá de Chivert, Castellón. She is a founding member of the Grupo Poético Espinela de Benicarló (established in 1984) and has contributed to numerous poetry anthologies, including Peñíscola y los poetas (1995), De varia España (1997), and Poetas de la Plana (2000). Her published poetry collections include Anillos de voz, La voz y el fervor, Viaje sin retorno, and Palpitación de las horas, which was a finalist for the Premio de la Crítica Valenciana in 2003. She has received prestigious awards such as the Premio Ciudad de Segorbe de poesía (1994) and the Reina Amalia de poesía (Palma de Mallorca, 1998). As a visual poet, her work has been featured in anthologies like El color en la poesía visual and Poesía visual española ante el nuevo milenio. She has also participated in collective exhibitions, including 24 poetas visuales and Homenaje a Joan Brossa.

 

Nil Perez Peirano

Nil Perez Peirano, an artist from Mar del Plata, Provincia de Buenos Aires, participated in the "Reticulárea Colectiva: Cartografías Comunes" group exhibition held at Sala Mandoza in Caracas, Venezuela in 2024. This exhibition showcased a diverse range of works from various artists, focusing on themes of connectivity, mapping, and shared experiences through art.

 

Nonlocal Variable

NonLocal Variable is an active mail artist contributing to the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA). His work often explores themes of art in opposition, engaging in global artistic exchanges and collaborative projects. He has been featured in various mail art initiatives, including zine publications and experimental art movements. His contributions reflect a commitment to alternative artistic expression, challenging conventional boundaries within the mail art community.

 

Nula Horo

Nula Horo is a German mail artist based in Kassel, Germany, known for their contributions to transnational artistic exchanges. Their work has been featured in exhibitions such as ENDZEIT #25 and #26 at Museum Herxheim, a digital mail art presentation exploring collaborative artistic concepts. Horo actively participates in the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), engaging in global mail art projects and experimental visual communication. Their artistic approach integrates Esperanto as a common language, emphasizing cross-cultural dialogue and artistic accessibility.

 

Ondřej Vavrečka

Ondřej Vavrečka is a Czech multimedia artist, filmmaker, and musician known for his experimental approach to visual storytelling. His artistic practice spans film, collage, music, painting, performance, poetry, and sewing, often infused with humor and philosophical inquiry. Vavrečka studied languages, humanities, film editing, and audiovisual studies at FAMU in Prague, where he developed his distinctive style of collage, montage, and assemblage. His work explores themes of human perception, materiality, and dialectical imagery, combining philosophical thought with playful artistic experimentation. He has exhibited internationally, with recent showcases including The Green File at Divadlo Pod Palmovkou in Prague, Wasted To Metal – Reloaded at Walk Thru Gallery in Hradec Králové, and Screengazer And Fire In The Sky at Kino Ponrepo in Prague. His films, such as Mezi námi (2014), De Potentia Dei (2016), and Osobní život díry (2020), reflect his unique approach to cinematic storytelling.

  

Oronzo Liuzzi

Oronzo Liuzzi was born in 1949 in Fasano, Italy. He currently lives and works in Corato, Italy. Oronzo holds a degree in Aesthetic Philosophy from the University of Bari. He is an active figure in the artistic and literary scene, known for his numerous solo and group exhibitions at both national and international levels. Oronzo's work spans various mediums, including artist's books, visual writing, and mail art. He has published several books and has been involved in various artistic projects that blend visual and verbal elements. 

 

Ovidiu Petca

Ovidiu Petca is a Romanian mail artist and printmaker based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He graduated from the Fine Arts Institute "Ion Andreescu" and has been actively involved in national and international exhibitions since 1987. Petca is the editor of the magazine "Tribuna" and has played a significant role in organizing mail art and printmaking events. He was the president of the Foundation International Graphic Biennial-Cluj and coordinated the Cluj International Mini-Print Biennial (1997–2005). Additionally, he has curated the Tribuna Graphic annual international printmaking exhibitions since 2010. His work has been showcased in exhibitions across Spain, Romania, and Italy, including at the Muzeul de Artă Cluj-Napoca and the Mini Print Internacional de Cadaqués. Petca has also been an active member of the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA) since 1999, organizing mail art exhibitions and exchanges.

Paul Lorenz

Paul Lorenz was born in Chicago and has lived and worked in several U.S. cities, including Berkeley, California; Paducah, Kentucky; and currently Buckeye, Arizona. Stella Maris Velasco

Stephen Tomasko

Teresa Lucia Forstreuter

Teresa Lucia Forstreuter is a German dancer, choreographer, and movement educator with a distinguished career in contemporary dance. She began her ballet training at the age of six under Sylvia Hirsch in Wunstorf, Niedersachsen, and later performed the lead role of Swanilda in Coppélia at sixteen. She continued her studies at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden, earning her stage dance diploma in 2009, supported by the Palucca Scholarship. Forstreuter continues to explore somatic movement education and dance pedagogy, offering workshops and retreats that emphasize personal growth through movement.


Tohei Mano

Tohei Mano is a Japanese artist known for his contributions to the Mail Art movement, which emphasizes artistic exchange through postal networks. Based in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka City, Japan, Mano has been actively involved in Mail Art since 1976, using his work to foster global artistic communication. Ümran Özbalcı Aria

Ümran Özbalcı Aria is a distinguished Turkish artist born in 1962 in Izmir, Turkey. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Izmir and pursued her undergraduate studies at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University's Painting Department, graduating in 1985. She furthered her education with a master's degree from Istanbul Marmara University in 1992 and a PhD in Art from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1999. Özbalcı Aria has taught Painting and Art History at various universities and has held positions such as Vice President of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Head of the Graphic Design Department. She is a member of the International Plastic Arts Association and Iledak. Her artistic research and studies have taken her to countries like Holland, Spain, France, Belgium, and Italy. Her works reflect a blend of abstract and concrete forms, influenced by her extensive knowledge of art history, philosophy, and her observations of the world around her. Özbalcı Aria's paintings often incorporate digital programs and reference historical art pieces, showcasing her unique perspective and creative identity


Uwe Höfig

Uwe Höfig (born 1959) is a German artist from Erfurt known for his work in mail art and visual poetry. His artistic oeuvre often explores social issues, employing a variety of media including photography, photocollage, painting, and graphic art. Höfig has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, primarily in Germany, Italy, and Spain. His innovative approach and thought-provoking pieces have earned him recognition within the contemporary art scene. Höfig's art is notable for its exploration of social themes and its ability to provoke thought and dialogue. Valentina Stefanescu

Born in Romania in 1969, Valentina Ștefănescu is a textile artist and educator specializing in contemporary textile art, anatomy-inspired designs, and mixed-media creations. She studied Textile Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Timișoara and has exhibited her work in biennials and major exhibitions across Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, France, and Turkey. Ștefănescu’s artistic approach explores themes of transience, the human body, and medical imagery, often integrating fabric and textile techniques to create thought-provoking compositions. Her works, such as Black Anatomy and Think With Your Heart, reflect a deep engagement with biomedical science and anatomy. She is currently a Lecturer PhD at the University of the West Timișoara, specializing in Textile Arts, and is actively involved in organizing the International Biennale of Miniature Arts Timișoara (BIAMT).


Verdiana Calia

Verdiana Calia and Mattia Montemezzani are a collaborative artistic duo from Segrate, Italy. They have been working together since 2012, creating unique artworks that blend their individual styles into a cohesive whole. Both artists graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan in 2015, where they studied Graphic Arts. Their work often explores contemporary themes and techniques, including the "open form" style, where they move around the canvas in a dance-like manner to create their final pieces. They are known for their innovative approach to art and have participated in various exhibitions and projects.


Veronique Pozzi Paine

Veronique Pozzi Paine (born 1965) is an Italian artist based in Milan. She is known for her diverse artistic expressions, which have evolved over the years to include informal paintings, photography, site-specific installations, Land Art, artist books, and sculptural jewelry. Pozzi Paine has also been involved in relational art projects, emphasizing active sharing and performance, often centered around food. Her artistic research explores themes of identity, globalization, and the Anthropocene, delving into the interplay between reality and utopia, chance and causality. Pozzi Paine holds a degree in Psychological and Social Research from the University of Milan Bicocca and has conducted extensive artistic and anthropological research in Asia.


Virginie Loreau

Virginie Loreau: A Rising Voice in Contemporary Art. Virginie Loreau is a contemporary artist whose work has been exhibited internationally. Since her first verified exhibition, Natale ad arte at Ex Carcere Borbonico in Avellino, Italy (2019), she has established herself as an emerging presence in the global art scene. Over the past six years, Loreau has participated in 32 group exhibitions, showcasing her work primarily in Italy, as well as in Germany, Romania, and other international locations. Her most recent exhibition, Migrations, was held at LICA Building - Lancaster University in Lancaster (2025), marking another milestone in her evolving career.

Vladimir Ambrus

Vladimir Ambrus (born 1952, in Brno, Czech Republic) attended secondary school in Mikulov from 1968 to 1972 and later studied at the Faculty of Architecture of Brno Technical University from 1972 to 19781. During his time at university, he worked as a stagehand and technician at the Theatre on a String from 1974 to 1976. Ambrus is known for his contributions to conceptual art, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s. He exhibited his work in various countries, including the USA, Japan, Poland, and Italy. His artistic endeavors also extended to graphic design, stage design, and exhibitions. Throughout his career, Ambrus was an active member of the Brno art scene, often participating in performances and "actions" that took place outside official institutions. His work has left a lasting impact on the contemporary art world in the Czech Republic and beyond.

Vlado Goreski

Vlado Goreski (born 1958, in Bitola, North Macedonia) is a Macedonian-Slovenian graphic artist and scenographer. He completed his secondary education in Bitola and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Skopje in 19811. Goreski furthered his studies at the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He began his career in 1980 as a volunteer and was employed as a painter-artist at the National Theatre Bitola in 1981. In 1982, he became the curator of contemporary art at the Institute, Museum, and Gallery in Bitola. Goreski has held numerous solo and collective exhibitions both in his home country and internationally. Goreski is known for his work in graphic art, particularly in aquatint, drypoint, and digital graphics. His artistic style often features expressionistic and conceptual elements, with themes of mysticism, spirituality, metaphysics, and grotesque surrealism. He has participated in international exhibitions and served as a jury member and expert consultant for various art events.

William Lee

William Lee: A Contemporary Chinese Artist with a Global Presence. Born in Beijing, China, in 1985, William Lee is an ultra-contemporary artist whose work spans international exhibitions across Germany, the United Kingdom, Hungary, and beyond. His first verified exhibition, Winter Collection 2009 at Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland, marked the beginning of his artistic career, and his most recent showcase, Being There Without Being There, was held at DADA BOOM in Viareggio, Italy, in 2024. Over the past 15 years, Lee has participated in 14 group exhibitions, contributing to key international art spaces such as Kunstraum Reuter in Berlin and CLC Gallery Venture in Beijing. Beyond exhibitions, Lee’s artistic philosophy embraces a spiritual connection with Oxalá, the Orisha of creativity, peace, and wisdom. His work reflects a deep engagement with visual storytelling, where light, shadow, color, and shape convey emotions beyond words.


Wim Scheere

Wim Scheere is a versatile artist from Duisburg, Belgium, born 1959, in Antwerp. He is known for his unique approach to art, often using unconventional materials like toothpaste to create his works. Since 1981, Scheere has been making "toothpaste art," applying it directly on canvas, paper, or objects to create sculptures with poetic titles or texts. His work spans various mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and street art. Scheere is also an author and poet, and he frequently initiates collective and international artistic projects. His innovative and boundary-pushing style has earned him recognition in the art world.


Wolfgang Günther

Nula Horo: A German Mail Artist Engaging in Transnational Artistic Exchange. Nula Horo is a German mail artist based in Kassel, Germany, recognized for their contributions to global artistic collaboration. Actively involved in the International Union of Mail-Artists (IUOMA), Horo engages in experimental visual communication, using mail art as a medium for cross-cultural dialogue. Their work has been featured in exhibitions such as ENDZEIT #25 and #26 at Museum Herxheim, a digital mail art project exploring collaborative artistic concepts. Through their practice, Horo integrates Esperanto as a shared artistic language, promoting accessibility and international artistic exchange. Horo’s commitment to transnational collaboration continues to shape their work, creating connections across diverse artistic communities.

Wolfgang Rostek

Wolfgang Rostek is a German artist and author known for his contributions to Mail Art, visual poetry, and experimental publications. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, including Correos España, a catalog on Spanish Mail Art (1985), and Tendances Art Postal at the Goethe-Institut Marseille (1986). Rostek has been actively involved in the international Mail Art movement, collaborating with artists across Europe and beyond. Rostek has authored a series of books titled Kommentare aus der künstlerischen Provinz, in which he compiled art reviews of exhibitions in the Weser-Ems region. His Mail Art collection from the 1980s has been entrusted to the AAP archive.

Zegreon Sergio

Sergiu Zegrean is a Romanian designer, illustrator, and concept artist based in Timișoara, Romania. With a strong foundation in interior and product design, he graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design in Timișoara, where he has also been a lecturer for over 11 years. While his expertise extends into interior design, Zegrean dedicates most of his time to his freelance illustration practice, a passion that has shaped his artistic journey since the beginning. His work spans illustration, concept art, and design, characterized by a meticulous exploration of ideas and a careful balance between subject matter and personal artistic vision. Zegrean’s creative approach encourages viewers to look beyond the surface of an image, imagining the depth and world beyond it. His ability to blend technical precision with artistic storytelling makes him a notable presence in both the illustration and design fields.
