Vintage postage from Britain...the YOUNG Queen as BODYGUARDS!

Some urban-wildlife here too:

From Positively Postal, Scott Thomson, what a great surprise to see him in my mail box.

And some REAL UK postage (and the Queen never ages?):

Thanks so much, Scott! xxx

Well she got Mail Art from Scott, so she can't be that much of a bore.

Good to see mail art from Scott!

And I noticed that Canada, Australia, etc. will issue stamps with the Queen...aging.

But not allowed in the UK?

Canada tends to show off HRH hats!

Nope, the Queen never ages. There were a few attempts made by Post Masters General circa 1970-90 to convince the Queen to change her philatelic image, but she would have none of it -- good for her -- and the original Machin image continues, not only on GB stamps but on GB (and many Commomnwealth countries, too) coins, although there have been adaptation since the mid-1980s.

The Machin image (on the stamps on the last envelope) is the most widely used image of anything in the world --I forget the figure but the image has been used over 60 billion times (I think)

( the 'Young Queen' stamps, known as 'Wildings' were designed by Dorrothy Wilding when HRH came to the throne in 1953, and were used until the Macin stamps replacved them in the early 1970's)
