Hi THC--I had a similar problem last year and had to take time off too. So do not worry about sending me something--whenever you get around to it will be fine. If you need to beg off completely, that is OK too, I understand.

Christmas is time of joy, rejoicing, greetings, gifts and holiday songs. It´s time of hugs, good wishes, meetings, forgiveness and promises. It´s time to generously share our spiritual and material goods, a time of worship and thanksgiving.

Subject: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Season's Greetings, etc. Small format (10x15cm). Handmade. Free technique. Send by airmail. Do NOT use ENVELOPE (must have postmark)

Deadline: December 25th, 2013.

Hi Hairy--How wonderful that you have engaged with the mail art community in your area. Your analog/digital collage is awesome! The idea of having the digital images contained within the components on the analog postcard is unique. Although some have painted/collaged CDs and sent them thru the mail, a somewhat similar concept. No rush on sending me mail art, I'll be on hiatus from mail art for a few weeks. I'll be giving attention to house and husband after the flurry of preparing an IUOMA display for an event tomorrow.

PS: Thanks for showing your studio--there is an IUOMA group for such photos, in case you have not found it yet.

Earthling, this is the last but certainly not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on June 29 I was unable to welcome you on board.  At the time I was in a celestial journey far beyond the Milky Way. Dear Hairy Monster,

Thanks for the explanation of your name and your Mail Art history -- both of which made very interesting reading.

It gets a bit confusing when you get into Superhero/Moaning Lisa/ Amen Pudding mode, as you and I -- and the rest of the world -- know that they're all the same guy.

Which UK IT company did you work for? I worked for ICL, later Fujitsu, for about 17 years, but, fortunately, had nothing whatsoever to do with ICT as I was a corporate public affairs/government relations guy.

As to your question as to whom you should send Mail Art to, there's two main possibilities: i) just send things 'blind'/'cold mailing' and see if you get anything back -- if you don't you've wasted time, creativity, a piece of art, and a postage stamp; or ii) ask people first if they would like to exchange some Mail Art with you -- that should guarantee you a high response rate.

And as to how many pieces you should send, well there's no easy answer to that. i would suggest as many as you like and can afford to buy stamps for. Try it and see and go with any flow that takes you.
