I’m glad it arrived. I am really loving the magazines. Thanks again for the offering.

I’m sorry about your mom. It doesn’t matter how old you are it is difficult to lose parents. My mother is 89 and has some dementia but is otherwise pretty healthy for her age. My father died at 45 but his father lived to be 101.
Your moms dream visit shows that she is still with you.

Living in Hattiesburg is much like some of the ads in your magazines. We moved here in 2015 from Nashville area. I grew up here but left when I was 19 and vowed never to return. The weather is great. Hattiesburg is a little over an hour to the gulf coast and about the same to New Orleans. The culture is different. The other day I overheard a couple of old men (probably my age) talking about how they would not own a cell phone even if someone gave them one. Internet is not available everywhere here and lots of people don’t use it. Many people still use cash and don’t trust banks or government. The first question I get asked is where I go to church and they are astonished that I can function when I tell them we don’t participate in the religious experience as they understand it. Women are expected to “fix their husbands plate” and “get another glass of tea” on demand. My female relatives actually ask their husband’s permission to buy things and go places. I’ve slways been a bit of a rebel. Only came back to care for my elderly mother. But housing is really cheap and medical care seems to be excellent because the doctors are not focused on getting rich. Food is incredible with lots of Cajun and seafood and fresh vegetables.

Wow...thanks for the link to your site. It is an amazing and most interesting archive. Some of the pages are before my time but I can remember the late 50's forward. (telling my age here). I commend you on many hours of hard work.
I have a small collection of ephemera (mostly rescued from flea markets and antique malls) which includes a few scrapbooks and photo albums from the late 1800s and some magazines along the same line...ladies home journal and harpers. I have not done as well about scanning them. Mine are in rubbermaid tubs waiting for me to die so my kids can toss them :-) I don't have many from the 1930s-1960s so these are special to me.I think the paper that was used in these older magazines has a really special feel to it. Today's magazines are so flimsy.

Hi David,
Your awesome package came today. I don't think I have ever had a package arrive so fast. The post office gods must be working overtime. It's a long way from Santa Fe to south Mississippi. These magazine pages are wonderful. I will have a great time sorting through them and making art. I will put a "check in the mail" (sounds so trite) soon. Thanks again.
