Not sure I told you, but despite your so kindly trying to let me off the blogging hook, I've intended since it arrived to blog what you sent me. (How can I not, it's almost the biggest thing in my studio.) Before I do, which will probably be soon, let me know if there are any big secrets I'm supposed to keep. Which I doubt, but just checking. One never knows.

David Stafford!! Your envelope has arrived and I laughed so hard it hurt. I haven't opened it yet, enjoying it as is it for a while. Genius. Thank you!!
Well, problem is, if you want to do it, you're not sane enough to do it, eh? You can't be "the sane choice" this time! But I'll be a supporter, IF it involves mail-art.
I am not on facebook but do believe you; it's what I first thought when it arrived, after having seen only one current photo of you. You had great hair back then. So did most of us. :--) I love this poster, and "the sane choice," and your other motto about being almost viable. Ha! I'll be working on a medal for you this week.
Be straight with me on question 1 if you aren't, David--otherwise I'll go crazy. It looks like you, is it you? A medal will be mail-arted to you if you answer unconditionally truthfully. Kandinksy, that seems right! I love it. Thanks so much for your nice comment. No workshops as yet, probably ever. Stage fright. One day soon, you are right, I'll have to not blog every single thing. It will be a sad day here, though.
Ok David, 2 questions: 1. Can you convince me that isn't you in the 1970s posing as "the sane choice" with the flag behind you? It's all in the eyes, but you in politics??? I don't think so. 2. The big print on the package back: please tell me who did that. Clearly I should know, it even looks familiar, but I'm drawing a blank. (I love it, by the way.)
I am behind on blogging--there are still 3 ahead of you, I'm getting terrible at this! Yours will be a special challenge in a variety of ways, but also a joy.
David, your mail art arrived and has me speechless, it's so rich and so big and so extremely interesting. Thank you truly. I have read it all once and, after another 9 readings, will blog it. A few clarifications may be needed so I don't make a fool of myself (any more than usual). Will be in touch if so. TY ~
Of course, you're right, David. Immediately after writing that, I went back to my studio, looked at the piece being worked on, and said out loud, "Well what do you think THIS is?" Much falls under that category; it's why we do it.

That took only two days through the postal system -- wow -- and thanks for letting me know. The texture is a sort of coarse pumice-like Golden gel that I just couldn't, well, bond with. I tried to rip it off the canvas, but as you can see, the canvas came right off with it. All in all an interesting experiment.

i don't enjoy politics.
i never have.
i came here for art,
and art is what i've done here since i came.
and if there are politics involved in what i do,
it is because mr. villo encouraged me into them.
my beef with him goes to the fact that i have given him nothing but good will.
i've sent numerous mailings to him, none of which were reciprocated,
but i didn't mind that i send a lot of mail that doesn't get reciprocated.
people are busy.
but he's been taking a lot of jabs at me under his alias;
and encouraging me under his normal account.
i find it very rude considering the goodwill i've put into both this site and to him.
if you want to take a side against me because he's your pal,
that is your right. all i ask is respect in return for respect.
and he has broken that to severe degrees.
sincerely,
mark alan rossmiller
