Some people are SO GENEROUS! More than Mailart from Guido Vermeulen and Cheryl Penn

On my return from Maine I had this gem of a book from Cheryl to greet me! I don't know the story of the Bhubesi women but with my years in Kenya and the amazing book I'm reading at the moment, 'Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea' help me to see the world that Cheryl describes. The tactile quality and the smell.  Wow.

The first of Guido's images is the original from the Island Mailart show.  My daughter was with me when I opened it and had the audacity to ask for me to frame it so she could take it University. 'Les Écritures de la nuit' is something of Guido's that I admired. I will treasure it, along with the envelope entitled, 'the Waves and the Sea' which I originally saw in portrait layout as a creature nut which I adore in landscape - Milton Avery -esque. And he also included one of his  Frior Editions 2012!  Thank you both.  I am feeling humble and as though I shouldn't go out and weed my overrun veg patch but should get to work in my studio!

I LOVE Guido's Scraber - I think its a cross between a crab and a spider??

The way I think Guido imagines 'The Waves and the Sea'! Apologies for poor typing in the blog too. I get so excited to share things that I forget to proofread... but I know you'll understand.

For some reason 'the Waves and the Sea' turned itself portrait even though it is landscape in bridge!
