Stick 'em Up!: Richard Canard Stickers by Jon Foster (Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA)

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 1

Mail art by IUOMA members Jon Foster (Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA) and Richard Canard (Carbondale, Illinois, USA)

June 29, 2015 - If you are a mail artist, you probably know about Joel Cohen, the Sticker Dude. Step aside, Joel! A new player has taken up the sticker wicket.

Jon Foster has created and distributed stickers based on mail art by his friend, mentor and correspondent Richard Canard. I am not aware of any Richard C. correspondence ever being made into a sticker (Dicker sticker?) before this, although I could be wrong. I think the Richard C. style is a natural for this stuck-up medium. Jon Foster sent us a number of the stickers:

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 2

And a close up:

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 3

Jon Foster also sent memorabilia from his Tucker project:

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 4

And the envelope:

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 5

And the reverse:

Jon - 6.29.2015 - 6

Many thanks! I am thrilled to hear from Jon Foster after a lengthy hiatus!

Thanks, Dean. I do believe Richard and Jon are responsible for a classic exchange here.

Richard, I appreciate the additional information. I was thinking some of your pieces could be adapted for bumper stickers, only they might cause accidents. (Why aren't the trash people making stickers?)

I though maybe you were the Quacker Jack Kid, but instead you are the new Snicker Dude (Doodle).

Congratulations to you and Jon Foster on a tremendous exchange and collab.

29.06..15 Dare De Villo S., ...Years ago,  I lived in Winston-Salem. The community has more than it' s share  of  galleries & museums....plus Old Salem, (a community not unlike Colonial Williamsburg , Virginia) & used to have an active Arts Council...the point here is, they obviously take a bit more  pride in supporting the arts than the average little  sleepy Nawf Karolinah township...my part here is--- I just happened to see a tiny ironic article in a local  newspaper  & merely added my usual smart-alecky sarcasm & relayed it back to W-S & to  Jon Foster..& just as Jon F. did with his friend Tucker, he in turn took it all many  generous steps further with his own personal energy , effort  & cash. Jon Foster is a terrific Mail Artist. Richard Canard
