Let's begin with the postcard: can this guy read my thoughs or something, cuz each new mailing I recieve from him he's thrown in yet ANOTHER thing that is just TOTALLY right up my alley; most recently, it was this postcard. The postcard is dated 1975 and is a circulated exhibition announcement/invite card which took place at East Tennessee State University back then in fluxus heyday, back when Ray was still doin' his thing and Ono and Cage were making weird music book and performance art. Well it just so happens I am not just a collector of postcards of any kind (I'm an antiques dealer and I specialize in paper ephemera and books for work) but I received my undergrade/am working on my grad degree in post-painting art history-namely stuff like fluxus and correspondence art and all goes with it so I was PSYCHED to be gifted this wonderful relic-and Richard C.'s characteristic notations, arrows and underlinings add to the artistry of the thing as a whole too (he underlines in red the origin city of the card, "Johnson City," and writes in black with an arrow "Ray" - how clever and Johnsonian of him to pay attention to such details and correspondences and connections and overlaps all over the place...SO! That blew my mind, I thank you endlessly Richard, and for the rest too-which it's too late and lengthy now to go too deeply into; the pics speak for themselves. KEEP IT COMING!!! I just stayed up all night (it's 5:38am eastern time) packing an xtra-large envelope with goodies for you too and I've got so many questions, topics I'd love to discuss via mail with you nwp-they say it is magic and it is, this mail art thing! Sincerely Yours: Hilary.

Treasure the TrashPo and recycled beauties from Richard!
...and I also forgot to mention just how special I found 2 other pieces included in the most recent packet, namely #1: the hand-written note concerning this whole big mix-up I'm involved in over my 2 richards-Richard C. is just totally chill about the whole thing and the more mail I get from him the more chillI believe he must be as a person and artist and correspodent...THANK YOU Richard C. for putting me a bit at ease about all that, I still feel a bit lost and totally idiotic about it all! And piece de resistance #2 is a black and white line drawing taken from an old Xmas card he apparently made some time "long ago;" I, too, enjoy digging into my old art, I call it "saving string" and routinely cut up my own older work to make new mash-ups out of the bits and pieces. As I always say, "the past is for leaning from, laughing at, and mining for new ideas," am I right or am I right? THANKS AGAIN! Hilary.
