ONION = UNION... and other goodies from Heleen

The Greek Post (ELTA) ..HELLenic Post, had to put it in safety wrap, but it arrived safely and happily.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! Just look what arrived in Greece from Heleen in the Nederland:

Now, she must know that I recently had eye surgery, as these are very necessary...

or is because I spent so much time on the laptop?

And "Feed the World Art" as Erni says.

..Heleen sent some yummy goodies and gold Euro, too, to poor Greece.

However, the bestest of the bestest is the ONION:

From a piece of wood, Heleen saw our "onion", or a "tree"...painted wood sculpture... lovely!

and even the back is wonderful to see, like a torso...in nature :

What a great idea, a beautiful piece of recycling art, Katerina!

 

And Val, I've never heard of speculaas paste in France!? What is the name of it? And which ingredients does it have (maybe you can remodel the label, showing the ingredients, into mail art and send it to me?)?
The spices used for speculaas differ a bit from the spices used for ontbijtkoek (I asked around me and the majority [scientifically proved, n=3] thinks speculaas and ontbijt/kruidkoek taste totally different).
And 'Val met muisjes' = a reborn Val? Like Katerina's gold foil has been reborn into a sun? Or should we eat you now? :-)

Thank you, Heleen, I did eat the Euro gold coin...it is always good choco! We can get bags of them, too, in late November, early December every year from "Lidl", nice German store,ja.

Some i send  to Erni (now I know to send for St.Nick's Day :-)

Hellen: yiou can buy a strange sort of speculaas paste  here in France. I haven't tried it, but apparently people spread it on bread and non-speculaas biscuits.

You found the right information, indeed both are Dutch. The 'kruidkoek' (which I usually call 'ontbijtkoek)' has a special taste which, as far as I know, doesn't exist in other countries (though I've never tried gingerbread, anyhow I think the spices used are different). So maybe you could try it!... Usually the 'best before' date is printed on the package (and ontbijtkoek often stays o.k. for a long time, even after the bb-date). So if there are no signs of attacks, poisoning (holes in the package or so), you can see if you'll dare to try it :-)

The chocolate coin also is Dutch. It is sold in the end of November and beginning of December, and is given to people during the Sinterklaasfeest (Saint Nicolaas celebration, the main day being the 5th of December). I wish I had left some of last December (but my kids ate almost all of it), because it's perfect to send by mail - I realize now... If I don't forget, I'll send you some at the end of the year (now they aren't in the shops anymore so we have to wait :-) ).
Also a chocolate coin stays good for a very long time, because it's packed in aluminium foil. Some years ago I found some old coins in the back of my cupboard, which thus were a year over dated, and even then they were still o.k. to eat.

 

I would like to see the Post floors in both Netherlands and Greece :-)  Probably I'm not the only one who has become curious :-) Maybe we should start a travel agency and organise trips to post offices / mail handling places?!

Found it: it is a Dutch spice cake, like gingerbread.

So these things were at the Dutch Post and someone there just added them?

Or the Greek Post saw your packet open, saw it was from the Netherlands,

and added anything on the floor that was Dutch??/ hahaha!

Strange that all that was put in your packet! Well, the "food" may be "old", so i will not eat ti. And the eye drops then fell out of another smashed packet and they just added it all into yours! Funny!

You're welcome, but oooh, Katerina, what a joke! What happened?!? IIt seems that the mail companies interfered with the mail, how great!

I am not as generous as you think - I've only sent food to feed Vizma (but that is on its way to Australia) and paper chocolate bars (not eatable unless for paper-eaters) to mr Bär. Nothing else!

So the postmen must have had fun to add all those goodies, OR they just grabbed everything that was loose! And someone else in Holland or Hellas now might be missing eyedrops, kruidkoek and a chocolate euro!.. :-|

Unbelievable, I've closed the box with tape, so how can all these things have been entering?!
Please take care when you use the eyedrops or eat, see it's not poisoned :-)
