Mystery mail art

Every now and then someone sends me some wonderful art but neglects to include their name. I like to give credit where credit is due.

Cool plastic!

This one did turn out exceptionally well. As the recent "Mystery Gift Box" revealed, you post mystery mail at IUOMA & you can't be certain what will happen.

Perfect composed or decomposed... how fun is that.

This is Jay Block's piece (above) disassembled.

At first I didn't want to admit I thought I was supposed to pull it apart (glue was not very strong) for fear of causing trauma at art desecration among our readers or looking like an idiot (which I manage to do any way). This does make a really interesting found work, IMHO,

It can be reconstructed for the MinXus Archives, no problem.

Perfect, Jay. I didn't get into commentary due to the whole identity thing, but the "language-centered" (that's an old term stolen from the L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poets, BTW) nature of the work was noted and appreciated. It is classic found vispo - very effective.

Isn't there an old Fluxus Event Score that is an EXIT sign or a NO SMOKING sign? People were supposed to perform it, in either case.

Actually, the door message in your work was so pronounced that I actually disassembled the work thinking I was meant to do that.

Found the plastic on a walk the other day, and know that you are partial to text driven images... made sense at the time... like the idea that a fire door was a sort of pandoras box, you open the door, you get fire...

Jay! No kidding. This isn't exactly your style. But OK. Thanks. Makes sense in that I just ran some of your other work.

Seems the return address did not make it thru... glad the piece as a whole arrived...best...j
