Dean tells me that his wife is his greatest inspiration-if she tells him to throw something in the bin, it gives him the idea to make art out of it. I like thinking of his wife as the human trashpo detection system-what is garbage to her, is art to us. I don't know why, but I bet she is good at spotting bullshit too. I love the way Dean has assembled all these postcards. I'd say he collaged them together, but they each remaind relatively intact and not blended. It's more like a mosaic.

Next I received a new entry for the Trashpo call from Brasil. It is a trashpo first, as I have never received empty pill capsules before. What an original idea! I have no idea how to display these for the show but I will find a way.
It is posted on my blog at dianekeys.blogspot.com

This week I also was flooded with button christmas by Stephanie Blake, Button Queen, and Lisa Skybridge, Queen of..well.....fucking everything!!!!

I hadn't hearf from Cuan in awhile so was thrilled to get this most unusual piece. It is constructed from temporary tattoos and looks like a cover of a graphic novel. It is dark and edgy, just like I like.

Next I received this piece, yet I don't know who it is from. The address label looked familiar, like Svenja's but it is not from her. Not sure who had the 'trashiest holiday' but I desperately want to know!!!!--more after brief NING overload intermission.....

Huge profits being made for sure. They prematurely approve drugs reeping profits that far exceed the price of the law suit settlements to follow.

In the 90s, Damien Hirst did an installation (it's really well known) called "Pharmacy" where he built the inside of a pharmacy in a museum. I didn't pay much attention, but someone told me he made all the pills himself out of clay that he painted - like hundreds or even thousands of them. I think a lot of people have been influenced by that work. I guess it was, indeed, a commentary on Big Pharma and the medicated-zombie society.

Everything I see is just empty medicine containers: boxes, plastic bubble things, labels - Trashpo.

That's so weird. I didn't realize pillpo was some kind of trend. I must admit getting pills from Brasil made me nervous. Do you think the envelope got sniffed by dogs? Mail Art  can be dangerous I suppose. Yes, the buttons are fantastic and Lisa said she was inspired by the Steph/Claire project.

Impressive haul, DK. These Trashpo buttons - including the Skybridge work I haven't seen before - are a whole new direction for Trashpo.

What is up with this empty pill thing? I just received something from TIC TAC that has what looks like plastic holders for allergy medicine or something. There's also a woman on Open Fluxus who has been posting the boxes of all the medicine she has been taking - it's been going on for months. A comment on how TOXIS through Big Pharma has turned all non-Dkulters into zombies?

The Cuan Miles piece is a beauty!
