The Billiken story has fascinated children for more that 900 years.However, it never really caught on in a big way as the phrase "Ought to be" was misleading.And a lot of parents didn't like the "Just Muddle Through" slogan.  I think the biggest set back was when Disney decided to scrap the idea of a full length animated Billiken film, and worked on the Frozen project instead.

Another concern was that the theme song, "Mr. Moon" sounds very much like "Stairway to Heaven", a Led Zeppelin tune from the 70's.  Disney executives were very concerned with the publishing rights, and thought the Frozen songs were a bit more catchier. 

Thank you Martha for reminding us of what could have been.  I sincerely hope that Disney picks up on Giles the Teddy bear and it becomes a big hit.

Mr Moon was prior to any zeppelins darkening our skies, and thanks to you I realize I have made a mistake: the date of the poem is 1889 not 1989. Long ago I realized I am dyslexic for numbers, probably dysnumerous or dysnumeral or dys# or something like that. Oh Deary me! I have sent oodles of the card.
