This is my FIRST piece from Dean.  And I had to, kind of, solicit it... You'll notice that I put the back first in the lineup of images.  It's not that I don't like the front or don't understand what comes first, but I JUST LOVE the title of this piece. 'Pre-Christmas leftovers'. Is that uncooked turkey legs sitting on trays in a fridge? Mince pies surreptitiously removed from their containers by greedy hands in the run up to the big day?

Before I found Dean's mail art in the mail box (it is an actual wooden box to keep the rain out) I was cleaning the fridge (because it was dangerous, and we have some people coming for dinner and I thought they might see inside and refuse my food). So while I was washing shelves and sorting jars of lime pickle from raspberry jam I was actually thinking about leftovers and Christmas and what I need to do and buy.  Of course, the only thing I REALLY wanted to do was to be in my studio - or hear the postman drive up the lane.  And as for  Christmas posting times, it's already feeling inevitable that I'll miss them as usual because I can't seem to assemble my idea because I keep getting interrupted by things like the arrival of great pieces of mail art and the need to share my thoughts on them.  I find all of these other things get in the way of the mundane task of sticking and writing particular words for Christmas.

So THREE CHEERS for DEAN! (back to the champagne theme) for:

1. getting distracted during Christmas card assembly because it makes me feel better

2. having a stunning title to complement a stunning piece

3. being on my wavelength

Thank you Dean!

Update: I spoke to Figgy.  She received what she called 'fantastic' mail art from both you and Carina! She is taking a photo of them (up on her wall in Edinburgh) before she sets off on the train.

'No, I won't bring them back to scan. I want to leave them THERE.  They're so cool...'  So I guess you and Carina know what an 18 year old likes. THANK YOU.  She will take over my IUOMA space and blog something, she says, soon.

She handed her last paper in yesterday and will be on the train down to Suffolk later today.  I am very curious to find out what she's received through the post...I will have the scanner fired up in anticipation!

Happy it arrived, and thanks for the funny blog.  Darn, now to think of it, I need to clean out my fridge as well.  You see, you're inspiring!

And as they say; Like Mother, like daughter.

I thought I left a comment earlier, but maybe not. This is a fun blog post to read!

It is required of Dean to make stunning mail art pieces...

with a view like this out his window...he must take on art responsibilities!

(which he does stunningly well each and every time! )

Great mail art, and great blog...which reminds me, Rebecca...

time to clean my fridge?
