RCBz is always aware of what is happening in Japan, I don't know how many people know that there is an ongoing sumo scandal. I am not breaking any news when I say that sumo is an institution in this island. It has already had its fair share of scandals, but this one, with sumo fighters publicly admitting to fixing matches, has left the country profoundly shocked and embarrassed. It has also left RCBz very disappointed :-) (see the back of the card).

This is once again a very complex and intricate card, meticulously crafted. I am afraid I do not get even half of the details and references, maybe you guys can help me out. The stage is a very tragic one, with sumo fighters performing on a heap of skeletons, in front of a crowd that is not exactly thrilled. Churchill and Stalin are the only two I am sure of. That's when you wish you had studied harder in history class :-(

(RCBz, you are ever so impressive, thank you for this great card!

Hi Marie! Do you have any contact details for the mysterious RCBz? He was one of the very first people to send me any Mail Art, but I don't have his contact details -- and I have a feeling he doesn't supply them.

One of my favourite photos when I was gainfully empoyed appeared in an official EU magazine. It was of the President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, visiting Japan on some trade mission. On either side of him were two sumo wrestlers, in 'fighting costume'. Delors was a small, elegant Frenchman, who must have weighed about 60-65 kgs. The Sumos were, well, Sumos, and must have weighed 150+ (?) kgs. The caption to the photo read something like: "President Jacques Delors (centre) at the start of his recent mission to Japan".

The word "centre" must have been one of the most superfluos in the history of EU journalism.

Regards, Val

Tres dommage about the sumo scandal, but it has been going on for years and years. I once visited a sumo stable. The sheer amount of flesh and the volume of food they eat is unbelievable. Excellent collage--speaks for many scandals.
