Got this beautiful postcard from Jim Santamour today. Love the mate and glossy combination of B&W images and that touch of yellow and red. Thanks Jim.

Hi Jim, I'm guessing that is a street in Syracuse. I'm in Syracuse a lot and your pics - it's like their haunting. And it is just this amazing record of industrialization and history that makes Upstate NY so unique. Anyway, I'm a big fan - you've found a real niche with this work, I think

The photos I use are one's that I've actually taken.  The Black & Whites are ones that I have printed in the dark room - the old fashioned way - and the colored images are your basic drug store film drops.  I'm slowly...incredibly slowly - eeking towards the 21st century and learning how to take and print digital images.  One of the things I loved about Upstate New York is that as much as it has changed...it really hasn't...I try to capture the melancholy/nostalgic atmosphere of the place whether it's places I've lived/live NYS, North Carolina, Florida (see the trend towards warmer climates...) or places I've travelled. -jim.

I love what he does.  Great card and I really love how he combines the textures, giving it an extra dimension.

Thanks for posting Roberto - Jim Santamour finds these amazing old photos of places in New York - this captures the grittiness of it all very well.
