Fluxus card and traveling mum - from Roland Halbritter

Most of you will recognize the text painting that characterize Ben Vautier's art ( "L'art est inutile. Rentrez chez vous" - art is useless, go home ). This is a card that Roland got from the French artist in 2008, recycled to travel to Japan together with his deceased mum. Welcome to Japan Gerda Halbritter! Another detail I like, the original french postage stamp tamponné in Nice, with Ben's handwritten message. Thank you Roland, it's an honor to get this piece!

Halbitter :-))  I didn't even notice, no worries. Misspellings happen all the time, I also used to call you Sloane, how embarrassing.

Marie, I absolutely have to excuse myself on the typo - I know it is HALBRITTER. There was actually a misspelling of his name going around in mail-art - yet another part of the never-ending Minnesota saga - and I got used to it. At least I didn't spell Ben Vautier incorrectly. Thanks for the blog link. I was attempting to follow that for a time too because he posts such great stuff. Just an outstanding package here. So glad you are back, Marie. I did receive some new mail-art from you and will post it.

Thank you for the link, Ruud, I'll bookmark. I only knew his Bismarck website. I think that in a way Roland is still part of this network :-)

Roland started with his Socks Blog years ago. Have a look at:http://socks-stockings.blogspot.com/ Over the years he did several projects. From this blog you can find the sources. He used to be part of this IUOMA network too, but decided to leave it a year ago.

Thanks, Sloan. I love that "art is useless..." phrase too. I didn't know about Halbritter before he sent me a (now expired) mail art call for his Bismark exhibition a few months ago. I couldn't "produce" anything for that particular purpose so I sent him another card. And he replied! If you send him something there is no way you won't get something from him in return, do it!

Tremendous, Marie. I like Halbitter a lot, and I think this is a good one. The Vautier piece is wonderful: "art is useless, go home.: This is exceptionally high quality. Thanks for sharing. I HAVE to send Halbitter something just in the hope I get something in return. How do you know about him? I know him from Open Fluxus. DVS
