Dream Series 3 [The Rules] - from Cheryl Penn

I have been waiting for the third of Cheryl's Dream Series (but not necessarily the chronological third) for several weeks. This forced awake state was well worth going through, because the dive into the next dream is just priceless. With this book we are leaving the House on the Hill and the Castle for a while, and the detective story is put in brackets. Instead, we might have landed right in the heart of one of Her dreams.

Dreams are not to be taken lightly. You got to follow some simple yet oh so important rules. This is a whole different dimension we are talking about, you want to be careful there or you might never return. I'm a bit worried though, not being in possession of a Digesting Duck (cf Jacques de Vaucanson, 1739), I just learned that I might be in great danger. I'll have to check the yellow pages for a distributor ASAP.

I don't know about you, but this painting cracks me up, and I think it shows all of Cheryl's genius. All the elements of a Dream are there. Its inexplicable weirdness with the gracious Cinderella-like figure with giant dog head and automaton legs. The physiological part of it with the Digesting Duck and the EEG graph. And the Parallel World with the window/frame/mirror and both hands reaching, one of them not entirely the shadow of the other one, possibly the mirror image but most probably not. And I don't even need to mention that the colors and brush strokes are fantastic. This might be my favorite one of this highly non linear and very intriguing, captivating Series so far. A delight, from dusk till dawn.

The blog has already been hijacked, but I'm glad you like the blog and nr#3, DVS. Now I'm still waiting for number 1 to get released from its ether trap. I'm not losing hope.

I think IUOMA had me googling more words than in my entire life before. Nagapie actually exist! Means "little night monkey" in Afrikaans.

shaggy dog story

dog language = muttering. It's just a shaggy do story.

Freud was a quack, a bit mechanical in his practice.

I red it all in the dress.

Wow, this series gets better & better.

CB, your literary analysis is getting so sharp you're going to have to go pro soon. Hm... Freud said it was all about puns: "Don't bite the hand that feeds you?"

Great blog, great art.

I was thinking - I'll lend you the dress for your dream tonight - long as you tell all!!!! The head is adjustable, so if you don't feel like that one, you can swop :-)))
