Mail-art by IUOMA member Rebecca Guyver (Suffolk, UK)
March 9, 2014 - Even if it weren't an entry in the Who Has The Best Hair Contest, this would be a lovely, stand-alone piece of mail-art. But this "hairloom" is Rebecca's third contest entry; and in addition to bursting with talent, the hairloom symbolizes her clear determination to have a coveted prize arrive in the mailbox of the pastoral Nayland Chicken Ranch.
Flash, glitter and spectacle only go so far. Dramatic gestures have a limited shelf life. Rebecca aims for the understated (that speaks volumes), refinement and tantalizing restraint - qualities that endure after the pyro-technics have ended. This could appeal to our judge, possibly.
Competition is growing fierce as the contest enters its final days. Soon Empress Marie will return from her surfing expedition and make the final determinations. With three entries, Rebecca seems to be taking a niche strategy, gaming different categories in hopes of gaining several top spots. For instance, accessories are ingenious. We might have to create a new category. Rebecca, indeed, is a deadly competitor. (It's not the glamour queen you need to worry about; she's obvious and transparent. It's the librarian when she removes her glasses.)
Thanks Rebecca. I am relieved you didn't send an actual ear.
Comment
You're losing your composure, Rebecca. TOXIS conspiraciess now? Next you'll tell me Grigori Antonin has rigged the contest.
Post complaints @ M-L. The deck is not stacked nor, I suspect, is it a full one.
I debated putting it in an envelope but Cheryl said that everything makes it eventually. This was my gem of gems and no doubt, foulplay at work!
