I got these rad two pieces almost 2 full months ago, but am just now getting around to talking about it.
Just a couple of simple images that have had their colors altered in some way. I'm not terribly familiar with how filtering images works, but I do know that there is a way to use MATLAB to detect the edges of objects in an image, and it matches the photo on the right. The left one was probably produced in a similar fashion to the right, but I can't be sure.
I'm really into the design of the bee photo. It's almost like a simulation of what bees might see. I especially like the way that the edges of the flower are so thick and dark and distinct, it definitely draws your eyes to it, similarly to how the bee is probably being attracted to it.
The image on the left is a little nightmarish. It's almost like a combination of Darth Vader and some sort of Lovecraftian horror. It's terribly unsettling how you can only make out the outlines of the creature, but no details pertaining to texture or color. It makes you feel as if you're either some sort of creature with advanced eyes in the dark or one with underdeveloped eyes in bright light, both of which are terrifying, since they're not at all what I'm used to, having two average human eyes.
There's a bit of overhang on the other side of the piece missing from the flowers, but it's nothing terribly vital.
Overall, a nice, simple piece, but still definitely an interesting one, very evocative.
