A trash book from our trashpo leader:

That's the front, and this is the back:

Diane and her work have made me finally understand why I save stuff, why I love the crooked edges and wrinkles and accidents on the detritus of our lives: because they're beautiful in the hands of an artist who can put into her work the almost impossible combination of rawness and elegance, humor and irony, using the unlikeliest of materials.

This book has many pages, all of them screaming Diane, so choosing only some to post wasn't easy, but here they are:

There are three more, and my machine is not letting me post them! I will try in a new post after finishing this one. Diane, you are an inspiration, and I am thrilled to have this trash book ~ thank you!

Thank you for your supportive comments. Angie, it's probably a good thing that you can find any good trash-in terms of quality of life and all. The found cheese is still a classic and has NOT decomposed even slightly. The bread is just too funny, but I'm glad you didn't send that to me.  Well, a few of us are doing a trash swap so very soon you will be receiving some and Nancy is VERY generous with her pre-loved papers

Thanks for sharing, Nancy, a wonderful blog! And fantastic trash poetry books from Diane... I have to rethink my trash too

Thank you Lesley and Nancy for posting. I watch that show Hoarders and they usually see all their trash as a craft project so yes, maybe I should pitch the 'make trash books as therapy and send to all your friends' idea. Those people drive me nutz because I'm definately more about not holding on to stuff, but I did have a friend who had amassed (SP?) a huge sewing room/craft hoard over a lifetime and gave most of it to me. I used nearly everything of what she gave me it was heaven and gave away what I didn't use. So interesting to see what things tweek and captivate people.

Good idea, Lesley. Some of us, but especially Diane, would probably travel great distances to rescue that stuff. If we could only get word to them ... anyone not have anything else to do today?

I have been watching a TRASHY show on Zone Reality channel, called Hoarders.... there is enough stuff in those homes to make MILLIONS of trash books! If only they knew that they DIDN'T have to throw away their junk. Maybe Diane could give them a call?
