My son Jackson and i started our monster collaboration about a year ago. Jackson doing the drawings, me turning them into stamps. We made some posters from them but ultimately we talked about making shirts with them. The shirts arrived a few days ago, he was THRILLED!…

Feeling inspired to make Mailartists portraits

I have started to experiment with a process new to me where I scan miscellaneous scraps directly onto my printer scanner. I then go at them with white-out, removing areas I dislike.  Then i repeat the process, scan, white-out and so on until it feels finished. For now i have decided to use this process to make mail art portraits with the intent of turning them into artistamps. So far I have completed Crackerjack Kid, Serse Luigetti, C. Mehrl Bennett, Jenny Hinchcliff, Carmen Kennedy, Picasso…

Build-A-Bot The collaboration continues!

My son Jackson and I have finished up our newest collaboration! I asked him what he would like to do next and he immediately said he would like to draw  robots. When looking at his drawings, I found myself thinking about these 1980's rubber stamp sets i have been looking at on ebay where you have all different cartoon parts or animal parts and you create your own "creature". I decided to separate all his bots and the final outcome was 14 robots and 42 individually carved stamps. I made boxes…

A time for Collaboration

During this time of social distancing and quarantine I have been looking for more projects to keep myself busy. My son Jackson who is 11 years old has been spending substantially more time drawing. I walked into is room a week back and saw these fantastic monster drawings he was doing on post it notes.  I snatched one unbeknown to him and decided to turn it into a rubber stamp. I was THRILLED with the result! I showed him and he was so excited, asking, if I keep drawing monsters, will you…

Steve Random collaboration!

  1. I came across a sheet of 4x5 negatives that I had done in college. On the sleeve I had written "Random MCAD 2002". That same day I had recieved a letter from Steve Random, and while piecing together my response i decided to include the sheet of negatives I had come across because I found it amusing that they said "random", i added a old library slip and sent it. This is the outcome. We each had it twice and I am thrilled with the results. The pics are kinda crappy, bit negatives suck…

Good world artistamps

I came across a old teacher's rubber stamp that when new said "good work" With time and I imagine a lot of use (at least I hope a lot of use, haha) It is in pretty rough condition now. When i pressed it for the first time, to my surprise it seemed to read "good world" with a smiley face that seems to be deteriorating. If you've seen my samps before, you know I can get political with them. Not intending to go in that direction with this, It sure feels incredibly prevalent, and though it may…
