A Mail Art call

My friend owns a gallery and has gotten interested in Mail Art, so much so that she plans to share it with her community.

She's got a Mail Art call now, which I've posted to Mail Art Projects. Send her something! It'll be on display in a gallery!

Here's the info:

The Cooper-Finn Gallery, in the…

Dan Mouer's exhibit opening - Gone Postal - last night (26 Sept. 2014)

It was very exciting to see Dan's show - Gone Postal! So many of my dear IUOMA Mail Art buddies were represented. I think that Dan and I convinced at least one person to join us, and possibly more. The energy and excitement was evident. You can't see the crowds of people at the gallery in my mobile 'phone photos, also, I arrived a bit later (to avoid the crowds actually.) Dan's photos will be so much better, but I wanted to share these with you.  As you enter the gallery, you see…

An nice article about Ray J

I liked this. Someone posted it elsewhere and I decided to share it. But what I really wanted to share was an article about Ray Johnson from the Paris Review.   http://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2014/08/27/please-forward-contents/

Let me know if you enjoy reading…

New pencils

I've been playing around with new pencils - water color ones by Faber-Castell and ink pencils by Derwent.

I found a circle stencil and used that and my 9b graphite stick from Sennelier to make circles. What fun. The ink pencils are really good so I'll…

Million thanks to a whole lot of people!

I just today got around to organizing the two piles of mail that I've received and been collection on my studio work table. I think the fact that we had a low humidity day helped me have more energy. In any case, I'm feeling good about this. And I've started to send out mail to the senders, and started to add to the pass alongs, and got more postage stamps! yay.   Thanks to everyone!…

National Postal Museum

For my birthday this year, we made a day trip by train, to Washington, D.C. for another visit to the National Postal Museum.  The museum is right across the street from the train station, how convenient for us.  There is a terrific gallery of stamps on the mail floor and on the lower level are displays relating to the postal service, interactive stuff, a post office…

Going to Quebec!

Do we have any members in Quebec City? I'll be heading there later this week and was thinking that a meet-up would be nice.

Who are you?

I received a lovely piece of Mail Art from Judy and Joey from St. Louis. It had a lengthy interesting note on the reverse but no return address. I feel badly because I can't figure out which Judy this is from. Oh dear. I'd love to respond. Can anyone identify a Judy with Joey dog in St. Louis, USA?

Look what I was able to find! Plus not missing out on Edmund.

I found the super blotter thingy at an antique shop. It's copper on the top & it took a bit but we figured out how to put clean blotter paper on it. I just happened to have some. It's so useful with my new fountain pen (a lovely Lamy Nexx) and also with rubber…

Received!

Before I dash off to my knitting class, I'm posting some of the wonderful Mail Art that I received. Lots more than this, and I'm so grateful and appreciative. I've started to send in return, slowly slowly, but in the meantime, I'm so grateful for all these gifts of your Mail Art! Thank you so…

Valentines, VA, USA

I read an article about this Post Office in our local paper the other day. It gets inundated with mail once a year, of course. And, of course, it's in danger of having hours of service reduced as are many rural Post Offices. This is a photo, taken by Bill Tiernan in 2011, of the store in which the Post Office is located.

I was thinking that perhaps we could all note the…

Newly received Mail Art

Since my long bed scanner, which sat next to my lap top on the little desk space in my studio, stopped functioning, I had to rely on the scanner in my husband's studio. Okay, must also confess that his studio is just down from MY studio space, but getting up and going in there to put my stuff on the scanner, then walking back to my lap top to wirelessly scan (this is amazingly futuristic) then walk back and do another scan, sometimes is annoying. It breaks my rhythm of playing. Or perhaps…

Oh dear, I'd forgotten about my blog here!

Seriously, I'd forgotten all about this blog. I do a blog consistently on the blogger platform, which is probably why I forgot about this blog space. Well, HELLO old blog! Glad to meet you again.

I've just finished up my third 365 Mail Art project on 31 Dec. 2013. Whew. It was good but I was glad it was done. Now I've been making mail art, but differently. Sometimes none, and some days several at once. And I'm not scanning and posting it all, which takes the pressure off BUT I will…
