Conceptual Mail Art Projects

This is a place for listing mail art project ideas – however impossible, theoretical or incomplete they might be. Think of it as an archive or a dumping ground for projects that haven’t yet or cannot, practically speaking, be realised. Think of it also as a bank of ideas that may inspire  other mail artists. See More

"Hello David, Id be delighted to receive a grab bag and send back some work. Not particularly familiar with the contents of womens magazines from the 40's - so would love a shmorgishborg - but if more specificity is needed, lets say…"

"An assignment I turned in to my professor today. We were asked to use the epistolary format and I couldn't resist making a work out of it, was a real pleasure to get to turn in an object as a paper."

Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
I find that many of the beliefs and ideas of mail-art correlate with my own interests and thoughts on art. It is helping me gain a language for some of my thoughts and I look forward to understanding its lifeblood. Just getting started, taking time away from painting here at school and have been exploring 2-D media. Currently working with letterpress.

Earthling, this may be the last but certainly, it´s not the least welcome message to IUOMA you are going to receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. I´d love to be the other end if you wish to trade mail art with a celestial mail artist. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

The Celestial Scribe
Terrene Embassy
Republik van Patland
Caixa Postal 461
Curitiba-PR
80011-970
Brazil

I look forward to seeing a piece of yours in my terrene mailbox. I´ll do my homework after receiving your artwork. This is nothing less than a Celestial Promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland Official Envelope Provider.
