What mail art is to me...

Posted on March 10, 2012 at 2:15am 1 Comment

I get so many medical bills and craziness in the mail.  To open the mail box and find a special gift from a fellow artist so heart warming and uplifting and just really counter balances the ugliness that comes in the mail.  It is also a nice way to support my local postal office of which I will have to go purchase postage from next Monday to send out some mail art!  I am so happy I found this community.

Dear Erica,

Love your website!  I think I took some photos of that same spider (or perhaps its sister) last summer in South Carolina.

I'm the Mentor of the Month, so if you have any questions or concerns, let me know.  So happy that you've found mail art.  I felt the way you did when I began, that I was inventing something all my own.  Great delight when I found a world full of people to whom I could mail those somethings.

100 times welcome!.  I went trough something close to what you describe.  To read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_art. made the the difference.  I started last year from there.  I feel today that I have been in mail artis for the last 45 incarnations.
