 i should have mastered something also . . . . . as it is . . . i have not . . . . . i still have a tendency to use dangling participles . . . . . .

Yes, it's a funny sort of French (I think 'patois' is a generic term for all 'sort of' languages --like Luxembourg German?). The Parisian Professor I went to >Canada with, foubd it easier to talk to Frnech-speaking Canadians in English, rather than French. He couldn't work out their accent and use of words, and vice versa

i missed woodstock . . . made altamont . . . . and then hit the road east . . . . back and forth . . . for a few years . . . . SHADOW READER . . . . WAS one of the deals that i missed . . . but according to my friends , when you showed up . . . . they said . . . OH WE WERE EXPECTING YOU . . . . .

Not me, I was freezing to death doing graduate studies in Ottawa. Alas. Ottawa wasn't very lively then, but across the river in Qiebec, things were much more lively
