There are several ways to construct a landfill, but garbage dumps are among the most common in human habitat manipulation. Many animals find this an opportunity, but none have a better bird's eye view than, of course the birds. Overflights have the sense of the illegal, or inopportune, as in CIA drone flights over telephone lines connecting Chancellor Merkel to somebody. Many landfills glitter with smoldering fires, bits of colorful debris and anything else that symbolizes the cycle of life and attention to a passing creature.
