Wow, how screwed up is the IUOMA message system these days? I get email alerts for comments left days ago, and this particular comment for example and many others didn't come up in my mailbox. Anyway... We will never know if she was wearing shoes, Dw. Maybe she did. Regardless, yes, I think you are right, aside from being an homage to the genius of Leonardo it might well be influenced by the epic poems of Dw and his world of tales and fantasy. And maybe cp-sa's technique of painting over paintings was another inspiration there. In any case I reckon it is very much in the spirit of MinXus.

Clearly an homage to Dark wall too. I would be the baby grabbing for the feet, assuming she is wearing shoes.
