Exactly!  Intaglio-printed stamps and currency set the standard over 150 years ago.

Thanks for your comment--yes, these stamps harken back to the days when stamps were printed from engraved plates. My husband has quite a few yet in his collection.

The reuse of classic stamp designs that countries like Russia are issuing really adds to this piece.
