what is 'rude' to a painter? who is more rude than a painter? haha! If you can print them out, go ahead. I do make a print copy and then reduce it to 'stamp' size at the local color copier. With 3000, I'm really far behind. I also hand-draw stamps directly onto envelopes, in another style from the one you see in the collages. You can send me your email on that "IUOma" messagette ( I suppose we have to befriend) and I will send you on email. From that you can transfer to your own photo program or print out directly. If you really really want more, I will put you on my daily email'round. And if you want to see the backlog! try my Facebook albums.

haha! I find it difficult to find out what I'm going to do before or afterwards. It's a practice, like acrostic, and the average stamp I post is ....hopefully...a C+ or better. Sometimes, maybe a B, occasionally an A-. There are about 3000 of these on my Facebook page. I like to make them topical, that is: the day I post them there's some world/event I might be referring to. Of course that's pretty vague, and sometimes I forget.

A stamp is a message that comes with an official warning: "this metaphor crosses borders."
The technology is very tricky, since the final product is ...well, tiny tiny, and reduction may change the visual relations. The border is just as important as the center, and that applies both to the edging for a block, or within a singleton. Since the format is small, the eye will read the entire frame immediately. In large format, the focal area...well, can and does dominate. As you see in my stamps, overruns to all the edges are common. The central "focus" may even be 'contentless' if that benefits the overall story. And, there's that story, or movie-movie: the State-attribution (I use U.S. state blasons but any entity works), the stamp value ("numerologists" arise!), multiple quotes, and of course the folder name itself. I add on a "philosopher-of-the-moment", but that could be any proverb, sayin'-just, or MYSTERY WORD. In sum: the stamp challenges the artist to answer the question "What does it mean?"..................how about procedure? LUCKY!ELECTRONICS! You can collage anything you can photo-store. The program does not have to be complex. I use Basic Microsoft Paint!! You can pre-collage materials and then scan them, adding the graphics later. If you hand-compose, which I do sometimes, it helps to use high-intensity colors as they translate well over stamp reduction. The Big Deal, however, is not the visual composition, but how you explain it. Actually, any banalitas will work fine for a stamp if you can think up a story that matches. Got a bad spot? Oh JUST PUT WORDS OVER IT, or maybe the Stamp value-number. There's an imbalance? No problema! Use the lesser area for some slogan or Stamp Authority.
