It is Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, when all the problems of "The Other" take the stage. You have certainly expanded my stamp metaphor.

That's a very large bird. There are very large flocks of seagulls on the swarm. many gull colonies display mobbing behaviour, attacking and harassing would-be predators and other intruders.^[11] Certain species (e.g. the Herring Gull) have exhibited tool use behaviour, using pieces of bread as bait with which to catch goldfish, for example.^[12] Many species of gull have learned to coexist successfully with humans and have thrived in human habitats.^[13] Others rely on kleptoparasitism to get their food. Gulls have been observed preying on live whales, landing on the whale as it surfaces to peck out pieces of flesh.^[14]

ah ..there's the premium docent's tour: in Hitchcock's THE BIRDS, you can take sides with anyone. There were dark birds, and white birds, stuffed birds and hapless, live ones they threw at the actors to get the effect. Should we let the birds stand tall, and straight? Should they be given the run of our streets, our garbage dumps?

The stamp isn't about Hitchcock per se. It's about the Horror of the Seagull: shit everywhere, disease, invasion and trouble with the tourist trade.
