Derek Parfit: philosopher of special benefits for worst philosophers.

There’s the Golden Rule, sometimes affirmed as “Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you” (Matthew 7:12, see also Luke 6:31). For every public (and private) impulse or legislation should unto all creatures be shared. LET US HAVE PUBLICLY FUNDED DOMES FOR EVERYONE! What about the costs of removal?
HOUSTON — Memories likely soon will be all that's left of the Houston Astrodome — the world's first multipurpose domed stadium.
Voters on Tuesday rejected a referendum that would have authorized up to $217 million in bonds to turn the stadium that once hosted professional baseball and football games into a giant convention and event center and exhibition space.
Houston-area leaders have said the so-called “Eighth Wonder of the World” likely would have to be torn down if the ballot measure failed. While there wasn't an organized effort against the referendum, some opponents had said the money to refurbish the Astrodome could be better spent on other projects.
Studies in recent years have estimated the cost of demolishing the Astrodome at $29 million to $78 million.

yes: down in the fog, by Lake Constance.

The was the front rrr, made with the lips, and the back rrr which sounded to somebody like Vienna or the East.  I just liked sounds, so I tried a lot. I did the same when I learned French and Italian. I tried Turkish, but that was a language too far.

You can write in German. I have had the reading of Hegel (easy, but slo), Kant (undecided, but eventually that is all you get), the Frankfurter Algemeine (detail perfect, point muddled) and pop songs (really tricky)

That's kind of nice. I learned my German in Rudolfzell, walking around the streets, rolling my rrrs in the depth of my throat as saying things like Biber or Greifer or anything else that I saw on the movie posters of the day. In the Goethe Institut classes I would say things like "Ich bin ein Biber, wofur dann nicht?" Today was Ancient Philosophy, all about the human mind a million years ago or less or more, when snails, and bees and grasshoppers played out big. That's Aesop, Animal Tales and sometimes even cartoon characters today.

beaver? uh...there's a metaphor.  The stamp is about the beaver lodge, rather than the occupant. There are a lot of beaver places or possible lodges in the world,  but most are just on paper, in museums, solid reconstructions of what was once a thriving money-trail, for both the beaver and the pelt collectors. If there's a beaver in the stamp, it's perhaps under water, or perhaps in the housey, or just the many homeless people in the world for whom governments construct expensive--and rare--shelters but in practice the homeless don't get to use them. Ah! Beaver: a symbol of the female, and its exploitation. The hardworking proletariat of reality. Let the lady have a home, and is that enough? what do you think?
