Comment by stripygoose on May 29, 2012 at 8:30am: Yes indeed. Listen with Mother started 1950 and was closely followed (1952) by Watch with Mother (radio>tv) ... and classics such as Andy Pandy, The Woodentops and Muffin The Mule. A lot happens in 60 years!

Do you know that 'Are you sitting comfortably?' was one of the opeining lines of the BBC Radio programme for children called 'Listening with Mother' that was broadcast in the 50's (and possibly earlier and later)?

"Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin."

And a short story for children was read out;
